Yep, until I can process the files in lightroom I'm not going to shoot RAW with this camera.
And honestly, I'm pretty happy with the JPEG output, I may never shoot RAW with this one.

Its IQ is at least as good as the K-5, and if pressed I would say that it is better.
Manual focus is useable. It's not well suited for fast action, but for static or slow moving subjects, or at distances past 8 - 10 feet it works.
You do have to turn the focus ring a lot to go from infinity down to close focus, maybe three whole rotations. That said, with the addition of focus peaking, I wouldn't hesitate to
solely use MF.
As for autofocus, my only standard for comparison is the K-5. It's certainly quick enough for me, except when it's in macro mode - that slows it down a bit.
My one issue with auto focus is that the focus points are fairly large and the depth of field wide open is narrow enough that it's not uncommon for it to miss focus by a little bit,
e.g. it'll focus on the bridge of the nose instead the eye.
In the OVF I was having trouble getting the focus right at first because the focus point displayed is set for infinity. Fortunately in the menu there is an option for a parallax corrected
AF frame, where it gives you a solid frame to indicate the focus point at infinity and a segmented frame to indicate the focus point at close focus. I don't have any experience with the X100
so I don't know if that's a new feature or not, but i figured it was worth mentioning.
Also, Selecting the focus point with the camera up to your eye is a bit of a pain. The button to activate point selection is on the bottom left hand corner of the camera and hitting it with your
eye to the viewfinder requires you to completely reposition one of your hands, not to mention your face is sorta in the way.

Adam, from what I've seen so far it handles high ISO better than the K-5 and the image quality in general is at least on par.
These are also out of camera jpegs with noise reduction turned to -2 (the lowest setting), I'm hoping it gets lightroom support
soon, the included software is pretty terrible.
Pop4, Just the 35/1.4. They didn't have the others, and if they had I might have picked up the 60/2.4.
I'm going to hold off on the 18mm because of rumors that it might not be as good as the other two, hopefully that turns out to not
be the case because I generally prefer wide angles

I've already bought my most anticipated camera, the Fuji X-Pro1.
Other than that I find the Olympus EM-5 interesting, if only because of its looks.

A couple from a short walk this afternoon.

It was sort of an impulse buy. I didn't walk into the store expecting them to even have one, much less that I would be walking out with one.
So far I like it. It's got a couple quirks, but no deal breakers. It's also my first experience with a rangefinder style viewfinder, and I'm finding
that I enjoy the whole experience of taking pictures considerably more. Just holding this camera makes me want to go out and shoot.
It does seem rather light at first, but I imagine that's a side effect of using the K-7/K-5 for the last couple years.

Alright, after an extended battle with the supplied RAW converter I finally admitted defeat and just converted them all to jpeg without any other sort of manipulation.
I can't wait for lightroom compatability for this camera

The XF lenses are slow to manual focus, certainly not unusable, but not suited to anything fast moving. Given that you can zoom in on your selected focus point with the press of a button (conveniently located directly under your thumb), I would think that any natively manual focus lenses would actually be fairly easy to use. This, of course, is almost certainly a matter of personal preference.
On a side note, i do like that you can choose which direction the XF lenses rotate to focus.

Sorry about that, I was a little excited,and in my excitement sorta skipped over all the preceding posts. Just got a shiny new camera and was in a hurry to go out and shoot with it.
The lens was the 35 f1.4 @ 1.4, ISO 200, out of camera jpeg.

Those appeared when I opened up the files in PSP Pro X3. It didn't happen to the K-7 files, so if I had to guess I'd say it's a result of editing the files with a program that hasn't been updated to be compatible with the new camera. As far as I could tell, nothing within the image was changed and it just added a 5 pixel wide strip to the left side, and a 15 pixel wide strip to the right. I was able to successfully crop them out of most of the K-5 samples, must've just missed that one.

I just did a quick n' dirty comparison.
With the camera in manual at ISO 100, 5 sec., f8 with all camera settings absolutely identical the k-7 image was noticeably darker, as already observed with most of the shots in this thread. The histograms back up what we're observing. I adjusted the k-7 ISO up 1/3 stop at a time until they appeared to match, and at ISO 160 the histograms are nearly identical.
I'm afraid I've run out of time to do any further testing right now.
Hopefully one of the other K-5 owners here can help answer this.
