Oh, I understand now. I did not realize such feature exist because K-7 was one of Pentax DSLRs (the other one is K-m) I skip owning since K100D.
Thanks for enlightening !

Hi, is this what you've guys been talking about?

Mine has already playing back portrait orientation shots as it should be since day 1 I owned this K-5. It originally had the 1.01 firmware and now 1.03 and this auto orientation thing does not change.

Sorry, don't know how to post picture that can show exif data at the same page. But if you download and save them to your computer, then you can read the exif data in your pc.

No intention of brand-bashing at all, I just posted my experience that show that K-r is not that bad. Yes, I fully agree that perhaps there was something wrong with my 60D copy (not T2i/550D, by the way) that even my trip buddies (who lend me that L lens & encouraged me to try Canon) did not know why. I did not put any effort to investigate further because I thought that even if that 60D of mine worked excellently, that experience taught me that my Pentax gear is capable of producing comparable excellent results.
Canon is an excellent system in it's own way, just as Pentax. There are some Canon features and their advantages that I really like, that Pentax does not have, and vice versa.

To add the info, I did not keep either 60D or K-r after that trip. I sold both one week after that trip. I sold my 60D because I did not want to spend money to start a new system. I sold the K-r because of that front-focusing issue that really annoys me. I missed some supposedly good shot because of it. And no, I'm not trying to bash K-r either, here.

I'm still happy keeping my old and trusty K200D :):)

interestingly, this is my experience between k-r's picture and rebel's big brother's picture

unlike that kr vs rebel, the setting for this one is similar except for focal length.
kr was using tamron 17-50 while the other one was with using that 17-40 L series

How to get Pentax Colors for K-r (and K-x)?

Thanks for the suggestion. Setting the white balance quite works for me, at least for the moment.
Still wondering, though, why not many comments on this.
And also, why I should do this adjustment, instead of leaving the setting as provided by the factory default, something that I've been accustomed with those previous pentaxes of mine (K100D, K10D, K200D & K20D).

How to get Pentax Colors for K-r (and K-x)?

I've been owning Pentax DSLR since K100D, followed by K10D, K200D, K20D and K-x recently plus now K-r. Several times tried to move to other big brand and always went back to Pentax again and again. A happy and proud Pentax owner, surely :D

However, something that's always been haunting my mind since owning the K-x is that I lost that 'Pentax Colors' (whatever it named) straight from the camera. I used to make my friends (other big brands users) envy with the images - colors & contrast - I shoot right from the camera. I am a JPEG shooter, by the way.
Surely it can be adjusted in LR, but realizing that I have to spent more time doing it has been quite annoying.

I've been playing around with every default setting (Bright, Natural, Portrait, Landscape & Vibrant), change the Hue or even the White Balance. Still, those pinkish or magenta and cool color cast is there. Added by oversaturated (in my opinion) Blue and Red/Orange color that I always need to adjust by doing post processing.

So, could anyone advise what is the experience in setting the camera to get similar result as previous Pentax (especially K100D)?
Thanks ..
