What do you mean, "legally post" the photo? It's not my photo, so I don't know if I'm allowed to post it. It's on an open group on Facebook, where else am I supposed to find it? :P

Alright, so I've never learned a lot about lighting, but I've always wondered how you get a good shot of someone standing in front of the sun. You know, like this? Photos from JD Photography | Facebook
How do you make sure the front of the people aren't underexposed? And that yellow-ish lighting... is that an effect in Photoshop, Lightroom, camera filter? WHAT?! How do I do it? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Cezar, that cat shot is beautiful! (I love cats, can you tell? lol)
Bumbibop, thank you kindly! :) They were surprisingly agile that day, but I guess it's cuz I don't get to visit my dad often enough for the kitties' liking! :)
Nomad, that is a gorgeous sky shot!

Thank you so much, my dear! Over the last 7 years, there have been very few that I'm really proud of, but those are 2 of them! :)

Yes, I know Jason isn't in focus, but that's what I was going for... :)
In-camera effects were used for this photo... I like how it turned out. :)
And of course, I just LOVE these shots: |

I have the Canon SD780IS, and I think it's not only a beatiful camera, but takes some really great shots. There are draw backs, of course, as with most P&S cams. It has a nice macro mode on it, which is nice.

Well, the first shot is slightly out of focus even at its sharpest point because it was crazy windy out that day... and I even held the stem to keep it from moving! lol And Jason is supposed to be out of focus. ;) I focused on the railing in order to have him in the background. :) Thanks so much for your comments though, it means a lot! :D

How do you all seem to get your photos in such sharp focus? I've tried setting everything manually, and I've tried it on Auto mode... and I seem to be able to set it as well as the camera's auto settings. But it seems that my photos aren't nearly as sharp as a lot of yours.
Any tips? I've been shooting with DSLRs for a few years now, but am always looking to improve my technique. :) Thanks!

Thank you all so much for your helpful tips! I think I'll have to re-read them again when I've not just spent the day making brooms! Lol My eyes won't stay open and I can't seem to focus properly on what needs to be done. Think I'll wait for a day off. :)

Hey guys. I just bought my very first Pentax yesterday (YAY!!!) and I'm in love with it.
A while back, I'd purchased a Ricoh 35mm camera, and it came with a few different lenses. They all have the K-mount, so they should work on a Pentax. I tried them on an old K1000 and they worked fine. I sold the 50mm and the 70-210mm, and had the 28mm left. It's a Tokina, if that matters.
Anyways, I put it on my K-x yesterday, and the camera turns on and flashes "aperture priority" or something to that effect. I can see through the lens and adjust the focus (as it obviously won't auto focus, lol), however it won't let me take a photo. I don't get an error msg or anything, the shutter just won't release. As soon as I put the kit lens back on, it works fine.
Any idea why the lens doesn't seem to work?
