Thanks ... I've got the cameras out and checked over in the meantime.
Just need to get some time to shoot.

Hi all.
Yes .... Lens arrived a little while back.
Have been busy though .... baby number 3 arrived 3 weeks ago ... and my Mum passed away last week.
And my entire family has been sick with the nasty strain of flu that has been going around as well (I haven't been that sick in a long time)
When i get a chance I'll get back through this thread and see which way to send it.
I need to actually take some photos with it yet. Been kinda busy at the moment though.
But it is definitely safe and sound at my place now.

That's OK ... no rush here.
Still waiting for my replacement hotshoe for my flash to arrive from the US anyway.

That's cool ... just put the list up there to get the interest going again ... and see if we can get this rolling along.

Good evening/morning all.
My name is Simon
Even though it says I'm a veteran member, my last visit to the site was around 2010.
Life got busy with moving and kids ... and photography was put to one side for quite some time unfortunately.
Also with me letting my Zenfolio account lapse and the greed of Photobucket ... all of my images that were on here have all but disappear.
I have started to re-add them into Flickr now ... and will be continuing from there (link is in my Signature)
Looks like I'll be starting back off with the return of the Travelling Nifty Fifty The traveling nifty 50mm - Page 116 - PentaxForums.com
Now to go and dust off the K10D bodies and lenses ... and fix that broken hotshoe mount of my Sigma flashgun (part ordered tonight)
Looking forward to post more images again here.

Has been a while since I had the lens in my hands back in 2009.
Has been a while since I have been on the forums as well ... life has happened in the background. But meaning to get back into photography again (especially with baby number 3 due shortly).

This is very tempting indeed.
do you have sample images from either the 17-70 or the 70-200?

That's what I like the idea of it ... especially with focus peaking as well.
And then use a smaller wide to normal prime on it ... and maybe my wife can use it to take some quick photos of the kids as well with it ... and retain quality as well.
I might just bite the bullet and do it.

I'd like to hand hold one .... but there's no shop in Sydney (apart from maybe one city store ... and I can't get in there easily) that has one in stock to look at at least. Poor really.
I am tempted to just get one of the last $299 deal ones .... they will be gone soon at that price .... but i might just get one and bite the bullet ... sight unseen.

I have an old Tamron 400m f/5.6 and definitely M42 ... so they made them ... and then later on Spiratone made copies as well.,
This looks older than mine though looking at the lens.

I was hoping to have a look at the K-01 .... I went to a few stores that I was expecting to stock Pentax ... nope ... sorry .... we don't sell enough and dont stock them.
I found a Paxtons ... they stock Pentax .. but not K-01 in store .... only store that has one at the moment is the Sydney CBD store (and I can't get in there easily anyway just to look at it)
Just goes to show ... they don't even given the public a chance to buy one if there aren't any in the shops ... and shops that are supposed to stock them ... don't.
I know i can get it online ... that's no issue .... but i want to go and have a look ad hold one before making the decision.
One thing I did see though ... was a biography on a top photographer for NatGeo ... from Australia ... and this is what I saw. Photographer Jason Edwards Biography -- National Geographic |

It depends on the lighting .... but as Sagitta mentioned ... sometimes a little boost is needed in some images.
And then in other shots ... I find nothing else in my newer AF gear comes close to the quality to the old primes.
I guess it depends on a number of curcumstances though.

You really need to find that 85mm ... it was nice to get the bag out again and open it up to check over all the Taks again.
And go through my old images I have taken with them.
Was the 105mm one of the first ones you originally purchased Mike?

Have been absent from the forums for a little bit .... have been toying with the idea of a K30 as a replacement body (current have two K10D bodies).
But after have a read around .... and looking at other options I stumble upon the K01 .... not that really throws a spanner in the works.
And for the price ... and the fact I can use my lenses ... and focus peaking .... and the fact my wife won't be so imtimidated to use it as well.
This looks like the pick for me ... it's still feature rich as well ... and easy to use for a n00b like my wife as well.
Now i won't have to take all of the photos of family.

Well ... this was at 12 months.
Jack is just over 3 and a half now.
As cheeky as ever .... but can be the most polite little boy ... and a devil as well.
I need to take some more pics of him ... he's grown so much in such a short time.
This photo was taken Christmas last year.
I am looking at doing some over the next few days though ... he still is scared of the shopping centre "santa's" (don't blame him really ... you should see some of them) |

Paul ... I have just managed to do the same when it comes to returning to the forum again.
Has been a 2-3 years absence for me as well .... just life in general and changes in work .... have mainly taken up my spare time.
It's good to be back though.
