50mm isnt for portrait, if you are using 50mm lense to make a portraite, you must shoot pretty close, even to close, your model just will feel uncomfortable!
135mm, on crop, is already very good solution, in my opinion!
So maybe take that 85mm :)

I have Vapex 2900 mAh and Ansmann digital 2850mAh , and now vapex have after ~6month of using, they can give only ~2300 mAh. But ansmann after year the same ~2300 mah! But they both about 3 days after charging have only less than 50% according to pentax k100d! Now i am waiting eneloops from ebay :)
