Very nice image. I too like shallow DOFs. I like to let my imagination fill in the blanks/blurrs :)

Heres another one with less shallow dof but I like it.
Taken with my old Ross, London 6" f4.5 on m42 bellows.

Heres my new love.

A Canon FDn 20mm F2.8, converted to Pentax K-mount.
This shot is taken wide open handheld over a fence. I had to stretch my arms as high as possible.
I just might get back to that location........ :)

I recently modified an older Canon FD 55mm F1,2 so that it works like a K or M lens on Pentax DSLR.

The modification took several days since the margins are so very very tight and Im afraid it could have looked much better if I had more time and better tools but it at least works well and should last a long time. Its a joy to use and of course focus to infinity.

First is a poor shot of the modded lens. You can see the Pentax arm that connects to the cameras aperture lever.

Then some shots with it, both full frame and 100% crop.

Then some straight shots just to look at the rendering.

Unfortunatly this lens was for someone else so I need to get one myself. In the mean time I guess I have to satisfy myself with my Canon FD 85mm F1,2 ...

Finally joined this club.

Found a K 28mmF3.5 and tested it yesterday.
Never thought I would be able to use a 28mm lens as a bird lens but heres the proof :)

First is the full frame and then a crop of that.
EDIT: Added a 100% crop as well.
Just some Lightroom sharpening added.
Shot using my K3

This lens is a true gem! Click on shots to getter bigger versions.

Ty Jean.

Been working on the project (the Cantax Project ) ;) and got a bit closer.
Almost got all the parts now but manufacturing them is hard.
Precision is down to 1/100 of a mm. The tools need constant readjusting from wear and tear.
Heres a shot of the bayonette manufacturing processes. First turning and then milling.
I shot them using my FD L 80-200.

Click on the image to get to the rest of them in a slideshow.

Best screen ever for manual focus : Canon ee-S!!!

Thats pretty close to what I did.
I did take some pictures so heres some of those.

I did use a cd marker to draw an X on both the original and the Canon screen and then place them like on the pictures to center them and draw around it.

Step 3 is were I went a different way.
I took an old piece of board and made a small recess that fits the entire Canon screen. Then used a fine saw and sawed thru the board + the screen.
After I was done I still had to file it down to a perfect fit.
Then I removed the tape and cleaned it using soap and finally CRC Electronic Cleaner. That eats up everything without leaving a trace and works well for other things like sticky apartureblades or dirty filters :)
Dont think a rocketblower will be enough but try that first.

Finally I went out and took some pictures :)

I had severe problems with over and under exposure using my Katzeye but I did use a Katzeye for Kx modified to fit my K-5.

If I use TAv with Auto ISO I got huge overexposed images but if I use AV with Auto ISO it seemed to work well. This is only when I have light from front.
I havnt tested this very well. Just something I noticed and then changed to AV.

I have just enjoyed taking pictures with a clean viewfinder that shows a nice dof. Its so much easier to get the picture I want on the first try. Finding the perfect focus is also much much easier then with the Katzeye Split focus screen.
The brightness... cant really comment on that. Dont think its possible to really see the difference without having 2 cameras one with each screen and test them next to eachother.
I dont really care. Its a joy to take pictures now. I love it!

Thank you dlacouture!

Got my screen today and after some work got it to fit nicely in my K-5
It is truly a wonderful screen compared to the default or my Katzeye.
Really nice focusing without the clutter and with a good narrow DOF.

I ended up using a 0.10 mm shim compared to 0.40mm standard.
It even works great with my Tam SP 60-300mm. In the 300mm that is f5.4.

Perfect timing too. It has rained for a week but today spring arrived, again, hopefully to stay and develope :)

I ordered mine and will pick it up tomorrow.
Now I use a Katzeye with optibright and I really dont like it.
With some lenses I have to set it to -2 or even more to not get overexposed images and others I have to set to +1 or so. it also varies a lot if I have the light in my back, sideway or front. Much of this is probably user errors since Im fairly new at this but the problem is severe with some lenses and not at all with others. My SMC Tak 85mm f1.8 works perfectly all the time with no compensation at all while my Kiron 105mm f2.8 overexposes a lot. The standard K-5 screen workes much better and I hope the EE-S will be even better + show better DOF + not have any marks in the way of my compositioning.
The Katzeye's center focusing aid is often in the way so getting a perfectly clean screen will be marvelous.

Besides.... This Canon screen costs almost nothing compared to a Katzeye screen.. Absolutely worth a try and if it, for some reason, doesnt work Ill go back to the standard screen.

Stalked a slug in the rain today and many of the shots turned out 3Dish. Shot with a K5 and a Canon FD 200mm F4 Macro converted to P/K mount.

Very nice shot.

Heres a few i took today just after the rain.
I used my old Ross , London 6" f4.5 ( Triotar or Sonnar built under license by Ross, London most likely sometime before 1910. It has 15 or 18 blades. To dark here to count but plent enough to create creamy bokehs.
I have mounted it on a bellows and it works perfectly from infinity to Macro 1:2 and theres not problem adding an additional 50mm tube to get to 1:1 and that at a distance of 45cms from the glass to subject. Love taking pictures with this one.

One of the shots has a weird little ufo in it. No idea what it is but maybe you guys do?
All shots are straight from K-5 except sharpness after downscale.

Heres a series of shots taken a foggy day on the local golf course. I managed to borrow one of those silent small golf cars to ride around in the mist and had some fun doing this.

When PPing I tried some layered textures + added clouds.

Do they work or not?

Hole 10 looking back on my own tracks.

Hole 10 Looking forward right over the bunkers and in the back theres a safety net protecting a local resident. The net isnt really visible but the three poles holding it are.

Hole 9 from red tee. Short par three over water.

Hole 3 looking back towards 2nd tee. There were more footprints in the dew but I tried to remove all but that one track.

Hole 15 from green looking back.

My ol trusted Color-Ultron 50/1.8 at the zoo.
Shot thru a window of course.
It was dark so I did what I had to to get the shots but the bokeh turned out quite interesting.

A couple of days ago this guy came to the house.
He had spiderweb all over him so I helped him get rid of most of it and afterwards he thanked me by climbing around on me exploring I guess :)
I had him jump over onto the glassdoor and managed to get a bunch of shots with my FA-100mm f2.8 Macro + a diffused flash as fill.
The orange background is from lighter objects on the other side of the glass.

Nice shots here!

Heres some from past few days..
First one is a bit like David vs Goliat.

Second is different but I like the angle.

Last is with a narrow dof.
Not sure what this little fly is called?

Heres one I shot today using an older russian lens.
(larger versions after click)
Both uncropped with only very minor adjustments to Tone in LR + minor noise-reduction and fine sharpening in PS.

Heres another one with faster shutter.

The flower detail is very nice and minimalistic.

Heres some ants from my first day shooting macro this season.
Not much around but ants, ants and more ants.
All shot with the FA-100mm Macro + a diffused flash.

I planted some elderberry jelly to get the ants to stay calmer. It turned out to be a great feast for them.

This was the first guy finding the jelly meal.

Didnt take long for others to join in.

Soon it was a massive jelly orgie.

These two were hunkered down like this with one antenna each down that hole. They didnt even care about the jelly orgie just a few cm away. Very discplined for sure.
Maybe they work for the NSA?

I found this in my stash and really liked it.
Really stunned I did this handheld at 1/4s and I didnt even look at the image til now!

What I have done is some levels and Tone Curve + some "fixed" some bricks in the stairs that had a strong glare.
Also cropped it to 4589 x3039.

Would love any creative ideas of how to process it better.

Nice with the blue effect and the wild feathers low left side. Looks almost like its on its way turning into smoke...

Here a fun shot I found in my stash...
Possibly the uglyest fly ever photographed...
It doesnt matter how much I look at this guy I just cant find the beauty in him :( :D

Really nice drops. 3D feeling. Shot them in a cave?

Heres a funny, hysterical series I shot this summer with my Kiron 105/2,8
They were having an orgie on the cars roof. Everything was going extremely fast and I could really have used a smaller Fstop and I will if i ever get the chance again.

Maybe theres to many but I have already deleted more then half of the ones I prepared
They are like little statues of sin and I dont have the heart to delete more of them :)
I did try to film them but it was impossible to get them in focus since they kept roling and running around. Constantly changing partners. The ones with the slightly smaller and darker heads are the males ( if I remember it correctly) and they were not nice to the females! Not nice at all.
