No need to get so defensive. I definitely wasn't trying to defend digital or discredit film, I myself shoot almost exclusively b&w film and enjoy developing it. I just said how things are. If you shoot digital and preview every shot, there is very little that can go wrong. If you use a perfectly working film camera and have film developed and scanned in a lab, there's a bit more that can go wrong. And if you're like me and use different old film cameras, various types of (expired) film, develop film youself, do wet prints and build your own cameras, there's a LOT that can go wrong. And that's what makes film more fun than digital.

I've used the DA 18-55 AL mounted on Pentax *ist. I'd say it's useable from 24mm with slight vignetting.
The first version of DA 18-55 AL seems to have a different image projection, it's not squared. All of the photos on the following link were taken at 18mm. Round world - a set on Flickr |

It is funny. I'm sorry, but I think that one has to be a real nerd to take jokes like that too seriously.

I've seen some quite ugly mirrorless camera designs over the past years, like Nikon and Sony. But this thing is beyond ugly, it's absolutely hideous. I was so looking forward to a Pentax mirrorless camera, but I wouldn't even go near this just because of the looks. It could have been retro like Olympus and Nikon or stylish like Sony, but Pentax just had to go with the "plastic box toy" look.
