Hi below is a link to PBase showing a few wedding shots I did a few weeks ago. All traditional stuff. I used the 50mm 1.7, 18-55mm and 50-200mm In Box Photo Gallery by petekd at pbase.com
Please bare in mind the prints as I am sure you all know are much better compared to the web shots that have been resized etc..
I was nervous for my first time wedding but it went well
PS comments welcome

Congrats to the winner
My choice would have been HINCKC Cab with no wheels
My opinion is motion should show a certain aspect of the image perfectly still and in focus as this really shows off the motion aspect of the shot. The cab with no wheels does just that and is far more technical and harder to acheive than the winning image.

Ok folks
I must say thanks to everyone for their entries. There have been some good ones. I have chose 5 results places 5th to 1st place and given a constructive reason for choosing were possible.
Without sounding patronising I did feel some shots where your typical shoot and go without any real thought on creating a beautiful portrait with natures best light, but that’s just my own opinion.
Just to let you know I get my inspiration with regards to portraits using natural lighting from a professional I know called Damien Love grove. If you want to see his work please visits the link and you will see what I mean. Lovegrove Portraits - capturing life creatively IN 5TH PLACE
I chose this shot as I thought the skin tone was great, colours nice and the eyes in good focus. The light was a little over exposed on the right with some burnt out highlights. This would have got 2nd or third place if it did not have the big blurred distracting object sticking up front of the shot. I would have also cropped the image a little to get rid of other distarctions otherwise Well Done ! IN 4TH PLACE
I really liked the expression on this guys face. The light was great as there is plenty of detail retained in both shadows and highlight areas. It would have been an excellent shot if the people to the left were cropped out the image and the babys face was more in view and focus maybe a smaller aperture so you could see the forehead and nose etc..(in otherwords maybe tilt his/her head to a different angle. Also a more even tone background. Well Done !! IN 3RD PLACE
I chose this as as the exposure was very good and it just about retains the detail in the highlights of his Tshirt. Again I would definately crop the bottom half to get rid of some of the distracting writing on his Tshirt. Great eye focus IN 2ND PLACE
This is a great shot. lovely pastel colours compliment the skin tone. Exposure and lighting look good and there is still detail in both shadow and highlight.
Two things in my opinion that let it down were 1. The lens seems to have focused more on the dress/rose area instead of the eyes. If the eyes were in focus it would have been great. 2. The background spoils the shot. Although even it would have been much better plain instead of speckled but well done !!! AND THE WINNER BELOW IS
I chose this for several reasons 1. simplicty 2. exposure/shadow and highlights are very good 3. Sharpness and focus are excellent 4. good choice of aperture. Finally the guys face tells a story. I would possibly crop the curtain but some might say it adds to the scene.
Very well done a geat image !!!
You get to choose next rounds theme good luck all

Just to clarify ?
Natural light is outside light. Your photos can be taken inside or outside taken by window blinds to softern the light or in shade etc etc.. as long as the source is natural and not man made ie: FLASH or studio lighting. I am looking for the the best use of natural light. Im looking for great portraits and not just typical Auto mode holiday snaps.
Hope this is clear

Hi Stu
You image is very good but a tip would be to crop it and use silkypix to automatically adjust WB and Exposure. You can try silkypix free. You can always upload the edited version.

Hi all
As the winner with my shot I have decided to make the challenge natural lighting portraits. My question is do I have to start the new thread myself and is it judged by myself or one of the people who run this site.
I am a bit confused what I need to do now so perhaps someone could explain ???
Thanks all

Thanks for the comments
All the the shots were taken with the 18-5mm kit lens taht come with the camera unless you ordered body only.
It is a very good lens but the 16-45 is supposed to be even better and who knows what the new 16-50mm will be like

Hi Im Pete a new member and new to DSLR with my K10d which I have had 6 months. I have learned so much in six months thanks to websites like this and my regular outlay on monthly photo magazines
This shot was took in May this year on Malgrat de Mar Beach near Barcelona whilst on holiday. The image was taken with the 18-55mm kit lens using a 1/2 to 1 second exposure and using ND grad filter (the first time I have used them) I wanted to catch the water movement as well as the mood of this wonderful Scene.
Aperture was small around 22 I think as I wanted maximum depth of field. I may have used two filters to get the desired effect. The only PS work was a little cropping and sharpening (a little) as I wanted to let the K10d do the work and my eye sort out composition.
I have posted similar images on another thread if you want to have a look https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/8502-hi-i-am-new-member-...0d-images.html
Best wishes Pete
