My resolution was to wait for the K-1 III but I just got an unplanned Pentax 67 with 2.4/105mm lens... a beast.

Together with the wooden handgrip, although I'm used to focus with my left hand and the grip is in its way. But I might get used to it, as it helps lifting the beast.
No hood for the lens. Was there ever made one? I have one that fits (67ø) but the filterring of the lens is slightly dented, although it still holds.
Loaded a film roll (without ISO on it... B&W, I'm guessing it's 125 ISO.) It's old, came out of a camera I purchased a long time ago, but it will help me determine how it all operates.

That’s unnecessarily psychologising why people want these lenses.

These particular lenses ARE brilliant at open apertures, as good as 2,3 stops closed down. What’s more, open apertures result in another DoF, which high ISO doesn’t. So if you want that, there is a clear case for them.

If you don’t need it, fine, just don’t disparage the case for their use.

That's a horrible experience. I suppose the Ricoh website would be a better guess. Not sure about Pentax dealers in Germany, but Foto Looman in the Netherlands frequently has good discounts (for lenses at least) and shipping to your area may not be very much more. ATM they list the K-3 III for € 1.649,00 (the silver edition 50 more).

The K-3 III was designed with love, it shines through when holding it. You'll be pleased.

There are other worthwhile TLRs though, such as the Minolta Autocord, MPP Microflex, Voigtlander Superb with Heliar lens. I don't necessarily prefer my 2.8C (and I sold the 2.8F because it would sell for more and was just the same in quality).
For portraits, some prefer the Tessa designs, and a lot of TLRs would qualify. They might also be a little lighter (the voigtlander is 220 g lighter than the Rolleiflex). I bought a Photina Reflex II which weighs 410 g lighter but I've yet to repair it.
The one thing is, overall condition and the brightness of the viewfinder. The more expensive Rolleis are easier to bring up to scratch. Repair is hard or expensive these days.

If you provide no reasoning whatsoever, it will never put an end to the discussion.
Just referring to an unnamed rep does not tell me anything.

Romantic ad which seems to confirm that Pentax stands for film, perhaps not exclusively, but no less strong for that.

For years I shot with two lenses only: the M 2.8/35mm and M 2/85mm on a black KX. It was nice, but the 35mm was, with hindsight, a bit flat. Ever since I've kept the 85mm, added a normal, and went wider than 35mm (with a 28mm). I actually even preferred the M 3.5/24-35mm zoom over the M 2.8/35mm prime. Or over the 2/35mm prime. Only the 645 A 35mm would best all of them.

So I'd be more excited with a prime 24 or 28mm. But I guess Pentax actually should have both (24/28 and 35). And other users have other preferences. Since I also have the 31mm and love it, 24mm would be my preference.

I've got a great scanner but haven't had the time to develop proper film profiles (not available for the Screen Cezanne). That's frustrating too.
Otherwise i've never stopped using film because I always preferred the process, beit 6x6cm or 24x36mm. I still hope for an upsized K-3 III in a K-1 III with the world's best ever optical viewfinder, as the k-3 iii is amazing, but i can't see myself ever stop using film. Over the course of a year from now, I hope to create a dark room for B&W (I have all the equipment) and scanner profiles for colour film.
I do have too many Pentax cameras. I love the Spotmatic or Z-1 I have but in practice i'm going with the KXs. As in 99% of the time, although the TLRs still get more love.
One thing hasn't been mentioned so far. The French maker of the handcraft Washi films once pointed out that digital saved film, because the use of silver in analogue photography, and chemicals, are unsustainable had digital photography not curbed its use.

Is this a rumour, wish, or a source?
I can't imagine how much it would cost to produce a P67 camera today. I did notice that many camera service shops do not deal with the P67 II. Too complicated.

Only a few did at varying levels of success I believe. Some were good at MF but less so ar 35mm, including Fujica (with a range of MF products), Rolleiflex, Mamiya, Konica too. Nikon made some lenses for MF (as in the Makina 6x7 RF) but not much more. Contax did both, but I'd dare say Pentax was more successful at it. Pentax at one point did the 110 range, 35mm, 645 and 6x7.

Fuji made quite a spectacular comeback in a sense, around 2010. They really went for it and succeeded.

I priced the virtual K-1 III considerably lower than the A7RV or Z8, showing that I compared those other cameras to it without implying, as you infer, that they are at the same level of operation. I suggested the Pentax would be 3000-3500, still 1000 cheaper.
BTW, wasn't the Z7 originally priced around €3500 in 2018? So I still don't think €2400 is anything other than wishful thinking, but I'd be more than happy if you were right !
I wasn't convinced enough by the K-1 to buy it, so I'm interested in the successor. The Monochrome variant has made things more complicated though

Thanks for posting. It confirms that Ricoh know what they are doing, and that generates confidence in the business.
Note to self: must safe for that K1-III Monochrome. If the viewfinder is renewed a-la the K3 III.

Didn't take it as such! Yes, sometimes the experience goes beyond the technical capabilities of modern cameras.
The person who sold me his Rollei 6008 Integral camera (and offered me his 6x7 which I sadly declined) was disillusioned by the digital revolution. He used to take shots from an helicopter or airplane, and sold them to people who lived in the properties below. But the joy of shooting had gone.

Like the manual return bar on on typewriters. Except that this has been recreated for the digital age with a mechanical return handlebar plus mechanical keys...:

I would too.
I don't think the K-1 wasn't profitable, there's no reason to think they'd continue the project if it wasn't.
BTW, absence of evidence isn't evidence by itself.

35mm lens recommendations for Pentax MX?

I second this. People seem to fare differently with this lens, but I love mine, enough to keep it alongside the DFA* 1.4/50mm which is superb. The 43mm just has something going for it.
And if you don't like it, the Limiteds retain their resale value. This one is a lot cheaper than the 31mm I mentioned above.

I never tried the FA 35mm. For your MX, the K 3.5/35mm might be good. I guess you would want to stop down for street photography anyway, and it's reputation is stellar. It's also not that expensive.

Pentax announcement: Considering developing new film camera

Interestingly, more shops are pointing to analogue photography. A large chain around where I live just send me an email with two links to analogue photography, one of which is this:

http://https://www.cameranu.nl/nl/analoge-fotografie?utm_source=mailing lijst week 01 2023&email_hash=286f330b92ef7c7dfeb61b744131ad96727e2306969e0a4682f934c844f755c5

It suggests analogue is catching on.
On a side note, I wanted a Voigtlander Superb to be serviced. Minimum quote was € 400. I'm now starting to develop my own skills to service it.
