Well, it seems the problem is yours. What makes you lose your temper ?
I'm just talking about what I expect and want for myself.
(And whatever the next pentax DSLR comes with, I'll stay with pentax, would it only be for the gears I already gathered and love)

What is the main purpose of a forum, should I ask
Anyway, I was just saying, *I*, *me*, want the video mode more than a new shutter or AF. I'm actually quite happy with the ones I have on the K100D. And I don't think I'm alone on this.
I see the DSLR as a creative tool, and the video mode adds a layer of creativity ; where a new shutter and AF would "only" add comfort.
Take a look at what you can do with the nikon d90 : Nikon D90 footage on Vimeo
This ain't no stupid video mode, you can't do that on usual camcorders, and P&S and phones are just a world farther.
Would it only be for brand loyalty, you should think it would be great for pentax to take his share of the coming d90 trend - as it's already starting to become a cult camera - and not lagging behind and letting nikon be the "only one".
;)
:)
Thanks for the help.
If you're really interested in artistic video ("enthusiast amateur" as they say), the lack of AF and the time limit are not much a flaw.

The point is not to replace a camcorder. But consider affordable camcorders like P&S : they are designed for "souvenirs" (holydays, family events).
A movie mode on DSLRs fills the gap between pro and consumers camcorders, and could be interesting to video enthusiast amateurs, exactly like they already are for photography :)

I was planning to get my hands on a K20D asap, but having seen some creative videos from the nikon d90, I'll wait and hope the K20D super/K30D/whatever will have a video mode at least as good as the d90. It's the feature that is now my main interest in upgrading - I know it has nothing to do with the main purpose of a camera, but it adds a layer of creative possibilities that is not possible with a usual (=affordable) silly (=lack of DOF, and not-so-good IQ) camcorder.
I want that more than a new AF and shutter

I agree on all points.
I don't think the DA35 is to leave my K100D anytime soon, just great on every aspects ; and I don't do macro (but I will try, now).

That's the first thing I've thought, when I got my copy of DA35 : "damn I'm gonna lose the cap one day, it's bound to happen". :(
Anyway, I'm in love with her (I named her Marianne ) : just fantastic on every points (apart from the cap).

Lack of curiosity.
I think this can relate to a lot of other domains, and firstly, to basic computer operation. Way back in time, it was not that easy to operate a computer, and I learned that you can't really hurt your system by curiosity, only when I had to change the settings of the two highly esoteric files 'autoexec.bat' and 'config.sys' to have enough memory to load a game (dos 6.2 and windows 3.11) ! ;)
Nowadays I have to understand how the things that I use work (at least the basics), or I can't sleep :D
The first thing I did when I bought my first camera (P&S olympus) was to try to decipher the number marked on the front of the lens. It was not that easy !
Modern camera makers simplify the operation of their cameras, but forget to teach the basics of photography to their customers. I wasn't helped by the manual of my olympus, and I wasn't helped by the manual of the K100D. And lately, I bought a AF540FGZ flash, and, damn, you can just throw away its manual, it doesn't do anything but lost you more than you were before reading it... I learned much more about flash operation on forums like this one.

First time I'm submitting some photos here. :)
I'm sharing some photos I made during a session of tattoo design.
All with pentax K100D, FA 50 mm 1.4 and ISO 400, custom WB.
And a little PP : high pass (maybe over-used on some photos :S)
I've made a different version on my deviantart page : Ink, needle and skins by *Mef on deviantART |

I give you my humble opinion, because I've not seen the word anywhere, I believe.
The K20D looks to me like a highly creative tool. Thought and made to help the photographers to be more creative. And that's all that matters to me. :)

I should have said that it seems to me that a bigger screen is not the most important improvement ; a more usefull/trustworthy screen would be - whatever his size.
Maybe this would happen by increasing the resolution (not the same as the size, even if they often come together), maybe not ; in fact I think the idea of having the screen view in the viewfinder seems to be a better idea than a shiny, yet still silly 640x480 screen. I hope pentax will surprise me with new concepts for using the LCD screen and visualising images and informations.
( And I do really believe everyone of you, when you all say that the nikon 3" screen is great :) That's just that I think those LCD screens are just plain silly )

I don't get the point about the 3" screen. I would much more enjoy a reliable, trusty little screen rather than a big but deceiving screen.
There is something to re-invent here (= the use), making them bigger does not change anything.

I don't see anything wrong with that. After all, the point is to have "PENTAX" and "K*D" imprinted on the brain of the DSLR customer. And the customer will be happy to buy an upgraded, better camera body anyway ;)

I wish pentax would start making a K20D every 6 monthes. Then they could start to sell pacemakers to their customers - it's maybe the new ultimate and hidden function of the K20D, the life-saving camera ? ;)

There was a video somewhere of a technology demonstration by Adobe on this thing ( maybe the video was not widespread because it was a french demonstration, thus in french language ). Adobe were presenting an hypothetic new function of a future photoshop ( it basically did the slide through different DOF, mix between "photos" to increase/decrease DOF - I add that it was also able to lighlty change the very composition of the scene (like a little 3D move on a side or the other)).
They had a prototype lens and DSLR ( no indication about the maker of the prototypes ). The lens was very, very, far from a normal lens.
If this is the future of photography, I'm really doubtfull that we'll see that kind of technology until a few years. And it is hard to believe it would be compatible with actual lenses ( at least, like it was said before, at a full MP resolution ).
(sorry for the bad english)

I think that the K100D Super is a good move for Pentax.
Having the same model constantly upgraded is a good thing for everyone ( pentax and consumers ). And using components already used on others products too ( SR and DR from K10D ). Because it keeps the price as low as possible ( to manufacture, and to buy ).
I don't know what is the situation outside Paris, but here, you can't walk through public transportation without seeing pentax K100D everywhere ! No pentax ads, but resailers' ones. It's easy to understand that it's only due to the low price.
And if the SDM and DR are small upgrades for pentaxians, they add 2 new points to the quality/price ratio of K100D now Super for the resailers to advertise to new consumers.

According to Pentax France, it will cost 999€, approximately the same as the normal K10D bodies + grip here.
(And 400 copies for France, released at the end of july.)
