dopeytree: I borrowed the Pentax DA* 50-150 from my boss for a weekend, and I was very impressed with the speed of the SDM, although that is compared to 55-300 consumer-zoom.
Buying both and comparing was not really the answer I wanted though :)

The question is "Is it worth it?"
The HSM costs €680, the non-HSM €450.
My research so far tells me that, apart from the focus motor, the HSM is 2cm shorter, and apparently sharper.
Is this worth paying over 150% of the prize of the slow one?
Or should I just get the Tamron 28-75 for €300?
On the one hand paying another €300 is absurd - on the other hand I will probably use this lens alot, and divided by the number of days of use/photos taken, the extra 300 is not so much.
I am sure this has been discussed to death, anyone :)
