I have a few of their batteries for my Q and GR. The capacity feels like it's half of original at best. Then again I never had any luck with Wasabi either, despite so many people swear by them.
I have a couple DSTE for my KP. Again, they just don't last as long. And in cold weather, they died really really fast. The D-LI109 already isn't as good as D-Li90 in cold weather but in my last trip it lasted a good half hour vs the DSTE died after about 10 shots. So I think I'm done buying third party batteries. If I am having to carry 2x as many batteries as original then it's not saving me any space.

The power adapter / power bank most likely needs to support power delivery like victormeldrew said. Without that negotiation between the adapter and GRIII, it will always fall back to regular USB low power mode. Incidentally adapter/battery that support PD also have high output. I'm planning to upgrade my power bank to one that supports PD sometime in the future. That'll be super useful for doing star trail type of images.

I feel like this should have been done before shipping the units to the reviewers. It's pretty big difference in low light. No need to rely solely on snap focus when it's dark.

I haven't had a chance to update mine to give it a test. AF improvement sounds great.

Can't reproduce it; It was just one time fluke. I've seen that in the past with my Q7 and other cameras in the similar situation so I'm not worried about it.
Yea there's very slight movement, nothing bothersome.

Finally got my replacement unit yesterday after almost two weeks! At first the camera was operating at super slow speed; like, it would take 3 seconds after pressing the shutter button before taking a shot. Needless to say I was annoyed that I might have to get another replacement. It turned out that the OEM battery had low charge since I didn't charge it before giving it a quick test. That all got sorted out after the battery was charged. The button definitely moves way less my previous unit. I can't wait to take this with me on a trip.

I have a few of those for other cameras. I'd take the claim of higher capacity with a grain of salt. It's the maximum possible capacity and each battery can vary depending on your luck due to relatively low QC. Overall, I find them usually last a bit less than OEM but better than some of the other random brands. I got some Kastar batteries this time since they worked out okay for my Q. I will find out after I receive my replacement GRIII.

Ricoh/Pentax tends to use slightly older sensor probably due to cost. So if comparing GRIII's pdaf performance to a slightly older sensor I'm not sure it's that different so I don't really expect it to be night and day difference with firmware updates. That said I'm probably just going to mostly rely on snap focus when it's too dark.

I wouldn't mind it if it's just small movement. Mine was good 15-20 degrees turn which made me question the longevity. I don't really want to test it out for multiple days and risk damaging the unit some how (dropping it, getting stuff on it etc) and end up not being able to return/exchange the unit. I played with it enough for the day I had it to know that I want to add this to my travel bag anyway, so I might as well try to get a better unit.

Just received my unit and the button does turn a little while I turn the wheel and the serial number falls within the range of the recall units in Japan/Korea. I'm gonna get it exchanged but of course it's out of stock. I'm sad that I won't be able to bring this little gem with me to my upcoming trip.

Do you need to store everything on the tablet from the day? If so something like a Surface is probably much more flexible imo. For me, I just pick a couple I would like to post to share immediately, send them to my phone (Android) and edit in snapseed. It can handle DNG just fine.

I have 15, 21, 35, 40xs, and 77. (I really should sell a couple of these...) I bought 20-40 because I often want weather sealing while traveling. 15, 20-40 plus 70 or 77 is great 3 lenses travel kit!

I gave up waiting and recently purchased a Canon G9X Mark 2. The lens isn't as good on it, relatively speaking, but everything else is much better than the MX-1 on this day and age.

I wasn't sure about KP until I picked one up either. In many ways it just feels snappier than my K3. Looking forward to see how everything come together in the actual K3 II replacement!

I bought the 2018 upgrade license even though I barely used the 2017 version. I find the software checks a lot of boxes but it needs a lot of polishing so I am still using LR primarily but wanted to give these guys support. Hopefully 2018 will get to the point where I can put LR to rest. I really should sit down and write a long email about a bunch of minor UI improvement suggestions that would drastically improve workflow.

I just put a step up ring to convert it to 49mm. Since all DA Ltd are 49mm I can use the same pinch cap/filter on all of them.
