This is a fantastic deal! I ordered just the ink cartridges because I needed them at 16.99 each (same price as B&H) and for every 2 print cartridges I got one 50 sheet 13x19 pro luster, one 20 sheet 13x19 glossy 2, and 2 50 sheet 13x19 semi-gloss. In total 10 packs of 13x19 semigloss, 5 packs of 13x19 pro luster, and 5 packs of 13x19 glossy 2 with 10 cartridges - a replacement set plus extra light and regular grey's. Check it out.

by the way firmware version 1.02 and camera had been in the sun outside (black body) so quite warm. I mention this only because of previous post about possible tight tolerances of shutter as potential contributor to the problem.

Was shooting outside without battery grip and with a battery fully charged sunday, with about 50 pics on it (no flash), and 3 bars (battery full) reported by k-3. Took a shot and then sounded like rapid continuous shooting at fastest rate (about 8-10 / sec). Continued despite no shutter button press and wouldn't stop when power turned off. Removed battery and it stopped. Reinstalled battery and has been working fine since (another 20-30 shots). Was Tv mode. Shutter set to continuous M at the time. Sounded exactly like the videos that have been posted.
Battery is D-L190 SN 201208
Camera purchased in Feb from BH SN 48303xx
Shutter count on camera is less than 1000 shots

I thought I was going to have a flap free k-3. About 500 shutter actuations. near fully charged pentax battery. had used for about 30 pictures yesterday and had full bars still per the camera. started flapping today - had to take out battery to make it stop. reinstalled and continued to shoot. worked fine after. No grip.
Battery:Pentax D-L190 201208 - 3 bar on k-3; charged and about 50 pics on battery with no flash
Camera K-3: SN 48303XX

Indeed, pentax makes a very nice 49mm screw in rubber extendable hood (I have two and use one on my FA50 and the other on my DA70 or 35 f2.4). Got mine from B&H.:)

I have had one for several years - smooth as silk through out the focus throw either from macro to infinity or visa-vera -- from the outset. I think you must have a defective lens. T

well, preview has finally posted an abbreviated review. Overall positive I think. Pentax K-3 First Impressions Review: Digital Photography Review ---------- Post added 03-28-14 at 09:34 PM ---------- Comparing the resolution using the daylight studio images is particularly informative (K-3 v D7100 v D610 v Sony A7). Very impressive;)

The USB dock allows fine tuning of how the lens communicates with the camera . With zoom lenses, it is often problematic to adjust front vs back focus at all focal lengths. For example, some zooms tend to front focus at short focal lengths, and back focus at long (or visa - versa). The usb dock would allow selective focus adjustment at each focal length range. Occasionally a prime will require greater than + or - 10 for the fine focus adjustment, and the dock would also allow one to solve this problem without having to send the lens plus camera in for warranty repair. The dock allows adjustment at each of three focal ranges with the zooms . Also, 3rd party lens sometimes do not work as intended with subsequent camera body releases from the mount specific camera manufacturer. The USB dock would allow for the lens firmware to be upgraded if you want to use it with a future pentax camera that does not work with the original release lens firmware. This is an attractive feature to me.

Purchased a K-3 is reason for sale though I now realize that the high ISO performance is a bit better with the K-5.
I got the scratch when I set the camera on a rock in order to do a group photo using remote that included me.
Cheers, T

Just updated myself using MAC. the *.bin file name for the v1.01 and v1.02 software are the same to if you are not careful with the file you copy to the SD card, you will be trying to re-install the v1.01 software which would result in the behavior you describe. Sorry if others have already posted --

Pentax (not ricoh) in the camera, eneloopmin the grip. Got a black screen with white lettering that said something to the effect that batteries were depleted. This was with battery selection in menu set to auto, and with all batteries charged. I turned off. Then back on, and changed menu item battery selection to nimh. Haven't depleted battery grip yet so don't know how the system will respond. Battery source set to grip first. ---------- Post added 02-09-14 at 12:08 AM ----------
I think so the camera gets the correct focal length (with converter) to guide shutter speed selection in program mode - my speculation.
