This is kind of funny and clever. Keep working like this and you could be on to something.

Yes, finally someone says 10. Not me, but simple, to the point and has some depth. Would prefer if the orientation was flipped horizontally so the lines were traveling up from left to right, but it's still a rad shot. I would take either of those framed in my house. I think 14 is a little busier, but that's not such a bad thing. Loving that perspective, too. Haven't voted yet, but both of those are in my top choices.
I'd love to see a link to the original contest parameters. Converging lines? Was that it?

Been looking at this lens for a Xmas present to myself. Might have to hold out a little longer just in case. Fingers crossed and knocking on wood. Keep up the great work PF.

Have you tried pulling it into photoshop or some other editing software and jacking up the levels to see if you're getting any kind of information? What are you shooting? I'd think you'd get something with your settings but maybe kick the iso up to 1600 or above and see if you're still getting black. Just my thoughts.

Well, I got it primarily for work, but I hope to occasionally use it for play, also.

Yeah, the repaired one. Hopefully their techs just didn't dust it off and ship it back. Still, I have a 14 day return period from the seller, so that eases my mind a bit. The six month warranty i'm not too sure about. I thought those weren't transferable.

I appreciate the input, everyone. Right after I posted this and got a few replies, I went to check on one of the copies and it looked as if my caution had come at the expense of losing the cheaper one. The auction was over and I had lost out. I figured it was probably a sign and didn't worry about it too much. An hour later I saw that the auction was back up, as apparently the person who had attempted to "Buy it Now" was an alleged scammer. Took that as my break and bought it. $690. Figured it's a good price for the condition considering any problems that may come up in the future. I'm staying optimistic and looking forward to this lens...and my extra mm in focal length. ;)
Thanks for the tip, neighbor. Maybe i'll see you around one of these days.

I was wondering how long it was going to take before someone mentioned that or the Tamron. :p
Ok, so let's pretend those lenses don't exist, and the only option in that range was the DA*.

So i've been looking at the DA* 16-50mm. I've found a couple in a good price range. One has had no problems with it, and the other the AF never worked, but was recently sent in to Pentax in Arizona for a full tune up and repair. It has a six month warranty attached and is supposedly in better than new condition. Not sure if I believe that last claim, but good to know it was just in for servicing.
Anyway, they're both less than $800, the one that was just fixed is nearly $100 less than the other that has had no problems. Was thinking of making the purchase, but was looking for an outside opinion. Which lens would you get? The cheaper one that was just repaired or the slightly more expensive one that has had no problems. Are official Pentax repairs reliable?
Thanks

Great. Thanks for the run down. I could probably use a more efficient management system.

So, I don't mean to get off topic as to the deal, but it does pertain to Lightroom. If I already have a full version of Photoshop, what does Lightroom offer that PS doesn't? Worth having both? Does it do the same thing as Bridge?
Thanks

Well, that's another thing. I wouldn't mind getting a grip. I've considered it and may get one in the future, but for extra battery life and a little more stability. I don't feel I should have to spend $200 on an accessory to have this not happen.

I use an oem battery.
I have never heard that about the tripod mount screw. i'll have to look into that. I don't know how i'd be able to do what you described. The only "nut" there is is the quick release mounting plate for my gear head. and after looking at it the screw doesn't seem that long. Just eyeballing it i'd say the screw is shorter than the cavity in the camera.
Jin, was it too late to do anything about it when you noticed this? Can't switch it out before the weekend, as I have a shoot on Saturday, but I may send it back for a replacement on Monday.

It looks like it was on this particular time. Hard to say for the other time(s).
Just tried to recreate with SR off and I banged it enough (still not very hard) to where the camera turned SR on. Strange. The glitch did not make an appearance.

So I just tried what jbinpg suggested. Off the tripod I turned on LV, swung it back and forth, knocked it around a few times (lightly and with trepidation) and got nothing. Seemed fine aside from the electronic sloshing I imagined myself hearing. Hate to have to buy a $200 grip just to keep this from happening. Still under a month from my purchase at BH so I may exchange it...just considering my options.

Hi,
So this has happened a few times now. At least twice, maybe three times. I've had Live View on, the camera gets jarred (barely) and the image goes bonkers. I get weird bars and interference on the monitor. To fix it I have to take the battery out. And when I say jarred, I don't mean i've dropped it. I mean i've had it on the tripod there and then changed orientation, to vertical from horizontal or vice versa.
This is kind of freaking me out and making me wonder about exchanging it for another or something else completely if it's going to be so delicate. I've had it less than a month and installed the second to last firmware upgrade.
Anyone else had this issue? Thanks!!

Wow. well, that's annoying. In my version of Capture One (4.8.3) it has ICC profiles for most Pentax cameras through the K7. I don't know if i'd actually be able to shoot with it though. and I think Cap1 is up to 7 now.
but i'm not even worried about full tethering at this point (although it should be a built in feature. It is 2013). I would at least like to preview on a monitor, if possible.

Is there a way to use the tablet to preview images as you shoot? For example, could you connect the two so when you take a shot it comes up on the tablet? I saw some video on YouTube where someone was doing it, but he had to plug it into his iPad via a cable after each shot. It didn't come up automatically. I don't expect to use a tablet for full tethering, but wondering if it could just be used as almost a second monitor or larger display for preview.
