The only "new" glass I have is the kit lens...and the only other autofocus lens is an older Sigma 70-300DL. Everything else is manual, I don't think I even have any "A" lenses.

Since all I have is a K100D without SDM, I'd have to say no :P

That's a tall order without knowing what type of photography you like. I grew up in Long Beach, and you can take nice pics just about anywhere on a good day. I second the Queen Mary and would ad the whole "harbor" area down there now ( the new pike, the harbor, Shoreline Village shops, the Long Beach Aquarium, etc.)
Head south and you have some nice beach areas like Belmont Shore and Seal Beach (but probably not very busy this time of year). On the east side of town is El Dorado Park, not a bad place for nature shots. On a good day you can get some great landscape shots from the top of Signal Hill. San Pedro isn't too far away for some more harbor shots, and there's some tidepools at Cabrillo Beach (along the headlands towards Point Fermin. Catalina is great for a day trip, but this is the off season so I'm not sure what will be available.
All depends on what you're looking for :)

Nothing camera related...got a new robe from my wife (she got some jewelry). We spent quite a bit the last month or so on home repairs, didn't leave much for christmas presents.

Voted for "significant other", although it's really split 60-40 or 70-30, I like to cook as well.

I think I'm out of the running...I've got about $2.50 in change, some McDonalds Monopoly pieces that didn't win, and three honey lemon Ricola cough drops...pretty sure that wouldn't cover the lens hood.

Given those two choices, I'd have to go with the K7, at least for my purposes (I don't do high ISO work much at all...rare for me to exceed 800).
But really, I'm thinking that the K20 might fit me better than either of those. I haven't seen either in person, but I get the impression that they're both rather on the small side, and I have large hands and long fingers...my K100D is right at the border of smallness for me, I'd actually rather have something slightly larger for comfort. I think that means either a K7 with a grip or a K20 (with or without grip).

Hmm...category 1 I believe, without actually going back through all the receipts (I might barely edge into category 2 but I doubt it). Of course, other than the K100D body and kit lens, everything I have is used (and almost all manual) from the cheap bins at Goodwill and KEH, so I've got that going for me.

depends...from what I've heard some of the early Nikons can be mounted directly (but loosely) on a Pentax. You might find some converters for other manufacturers, but it's my understanding that due to the "registration distance" there aren't many (if any at all) that will allow for correct focus at infinity, so no one really bothers.
Most of what I've seen are custom one-lens modifications rather than actual adapters.

Depends on what you mean by "photo shop". If you mean just touching up in post processing, I think pretty much everyone that does digital does that to some extent.
Typically I don't do any more than slight sharpening (sometimes), color balance, removing dust spots (if any), and maybe contrast/brightness (if my exposure was really bad). Yes, I do use Photoshop rather than another program.
If by "photo shop" you mean manipulating photos in post processing to add elements, take out elements, make it look "artsy" or stuff like that, than no, not really. At least not with any regularity. Occasionally I'll make a B&W version of a shot, or maybe a sepiatone or something like that. Once I had to remove a stake out of a picture of a lawn, but I don't recall ever adding anything that wasn't there to begin with. Anything more complex than that I stay away from, I'm just not that experienced with it to make it look right.

First digital was an Olympus Dsomethingorother, 2.1 mp if I remember rightly. Took decent pics, but just a point and shoot.
Second was a Sony, 3mp I think, wedding present. Then the K100D.

And I believe there was an M28/2 that went as part of a group of pentax gear on ShopGoodwill in the past week or so.

I inherited a Yashica YF rangefinder and used it a short time before I went to digital. VERY solid camera (it's a Leica III copy I think), easy to use. Needed a bit of repair work so I didn't use it much. Heavy to carry, but nice none the less. Very quiet.

Actually, I was at Wally World over the weekend, and they had a whole rack of the 4gb cruzers for $12 each.

I've used them off and on, never had problems with any of them (at least not using them for transferring files...much easier than burning/reburning a disk).
My wife caught a sale at Best Buy and picked up a couple of SanDisk 8gb Cruzer USB2.0's for I think $20 each...so shopping around helps. Walmart usually has some brand either 4 or 8gb for $20 or less.

Welcome to the forum!
I don't think the problem was a post by me (at least I don't recall having that problem or posting about one like that...maybe there's another Jester? Then again, my memory's not all that great)
Your last post shot down my two best ideas....not taking off the lens cover (don't laugh, it happens), or a dead or dying battery in the camera.

I'm a Production Manager for a small (actually VERY small the way the economy is going) publishing company. We do several visitor guides for the Pacific northwest, mainly Oregon and Washington. And a quarterly regional lifestyle magazine in northwest Montana.
Spent 10 years before that working as a project manager for an environmental consulting firm in Southern California. Left for Oregon when I got burned out on the politics (we did a lot of work with city and county governments and state agencies).
Food...In-n-Out double double (can't get those in Oregon unfortunately)
Drink...Mr. Pibb or iced tea, depending on the mood.

Most of what I have are third-party lenses...my "pentax" glass consists of a M42 35/3.5, an M 50/1.7 and the kit lens from the K100D (unless I'm forgetting something)
