Time lapse.
Also, this 'engineer' guy is talking rubbish, the phone's audio output is normally high impedance (looking back into the phone's circuitry) and drives a low impedance load (normally headphones). Circuit matching is only really necessary at HF and higher where the wavelengths are short enough to form standing waves.
The diode alone will be fine, but connecting a resistor in series as well will lower the current.

I agree, get the K-r and two lenses, upgrade to the Tamron or Sigma 17-50 and you're still within your budget. The K-5 is just going to be such a waste with bad lenses (the 18-55 and Sigma 70-300). Weather sealing is nice to have but it's really not that vital as you won't have much photo opportunities out in the rain anyway. I've had the K-x on an sub-antarctic island in the worst weather conditions imaginable and got great shots, as long as you cover it when you're not taking the shot and wipe it after you'll be fine.
In a year or 2 you can sell the K-r and the 18-55 and upgrade to the K-5 or it's replacement, but until then you'll have much better quality shots IQ-wise in the meantime.

Easy answer... get yourself the K-5 and give him the K-m :).

To keep the desert vibes going, here is a shot of a dune at sunrise Sossusvlei, Namibia. DA* 16-50, K-x.

I'm still seeing brick-and-mortar camera stores here selling K20D's and K2000's new off the shelf.

Wow, Caat, those desert pics are amazing. Love the one with the girl. Where was it taken?
I wouldn't trade this lens for any other. Looking at pictures made by it convinced me to pay the extra bit over the Tamron and Sigma. Just looking to add the 50-135 to my collection :)

This is the Temple of Dawn in Bangkok. Shot with my K-x and DA*16-50. The detail at 100% is incredible :)

No, it's supposed to pop up when you press the pop up button. It's likely the spring mechanism that needs a bit of lubricant, my K-x does the same after a wave washed over me whilst I was shooting dolphins from the deck of a ship.

Thank you, I missed my supper to get this shot. It was worth it though!

No, I didn't do anything to the photo. I think it just looks to be in front of the grass because the grass is OOF and doesn't show up as clearly as against the blush cloud. I didn't notice that before!

Nonsense, they are the same. The K-x is even a tiny little bit ahead in high ISO according to DxoMark, but I don't think anyone will notice the difference.

It's a panoramic composition, no way you can even get close to the whole scene into one shot. I was working, so I didn't have much time. This is the only place from where you could see most of the colony. Maybe I should have climbed that hill and taken one from the top!

I realised when I downloaded the photos that I've been shooting with +1 eV. Luckily I could pull it back in Aperture to something that doesn't look too bad. |

It's probably your PP software. I know Picasa does this to K-x RAWs.

Yes, this is about as clean skies as you'll get - camping on a sub-antarctic island.

The kit lens doesn't do to f3.5 at 55mm, I think it's only f5.6. You need a faster lens really for this sort of shot. This was 50mm f1.7 15s ISO 3200, single exposure: |

I think the HDR and cross-processing modes are unavailable if you're shooting RAW.

Basically all viruses these days are there to serve a specific purpose that is of benefit, usually financial, to the creator and his clients. The novelty of writing viruses that just format someone's hard disk or display strange messages has worn off long ago. There can be no benefit to a virus creator to infect your camera and do strange things, therefore it's very unlikely that someone will do this. And even if they do, they will almost certainly target the Canons and Nikons of this world because of the larger user base, as they do with Windows.

Personally, coming from a K-x and considering an upgrade, it would definitely be the K-7 over the K-r. The build quality and weather-sealing and handling and much better OVF is what I'm after. I've found that I rarely use ISO above 1600 shooting outside, which is what I bought the camera for. I don't know about AF, but the K-7 AF seems at least reliable where it seems to be an issue with AF in low/Tungsten light with the K-r. If the AF on the K-7 is as good as the K-x (which I think it is), it's good enough for what I do.

Welsh Dog, you have a lot of misinformation there. The HSM Sigma lenses will AF on all the newer Pentax bodies. All new Pentax lenses are K-mount as well and you won't find a Pentax made in the last 40 years or so that won't fit on your camera.
