Thanks so much for replying! I really appreciate it!

I have read a thread on here about someone making a custom one, but I am unsure of the specifications. I love my K1000 to death, but I just can't get good focus on it anymore due to my eyes.

Trying to get as much information about it as I can

This might be a bit of a stretch, but does anyone know where, online there may be diopters that can fit a K1000?

I'm unsure what the diopters would be labelled as, but I read online it uses the same ones as the ME Super.

Thanks!

I'm having a bit of trouble deciding, I love override auto focus and a nice focus ring, but that's ruling out the 35 and 31. I'm really digging the HSM (I've had really good experience with HSM in the past), But I'm unsure about how the SDM would match it. I don't really need WR, but it's a nice touch. I'm looking for fast lenses! preferably 1.4 if possible. I've been really trying to compare the images from all the lenses listed, but I think for me the feel is ultimately more important than the detailed differences between the lenses (albeit that is important as well).

I think I'm aiming more towards a full frame 50mm look to the lens, but there are so many nice lenses around the 30 range that it's been a bit confusing! I will take your advice though! Thank you!

I am mainly just looking for a lense with the override manual function and a decent focus ring. Silent/smooth auto focus is probably the most valued for me. I will take into consideration the 43 LTD! I am interested in the ltds because it can be backwards compatible with the Pentax film cameras which I think is really nice, but I am just a bit torn on the HSM/SDM features. I am just gathering more user opinions! (and current ones) in addition to reading a lot on the reviews here of the lenses!

Awww man! I wished I could be dedicated to a lense like that! I just searched it up, it's really interesting! I'm a tough sell to non-AF though :( It's the world I'm used to now. Thanks for the response though!

Hey guys, thanks to all that helped me fix my K-3 stuff!

I just wanted to ask another question which is probably on the forums, but I'm really eyeing some lenses currently that can change up my kit to a degree.

I've tried to narrow it down through Pentax gems and I think I've taken my liking to the

DA 55* F1.4 (I wished they had a 35*)

Sigma 35 f1.4 Art

Pentax 35 Limited

Pentax 31 Limited

I currently roll with a DA 50 F1.8 and I'm quite happy with it! But a plus for me is to have a lense that doesn't rely on screwdrive! It does it's job, and is pretty sharp, but I'd prefer a better focus ring!

My 50 is my daily walkaround lense, I don't really touch my zoom anymore. Any other suggestions are well appreciated :)!

Thank you!

EDIT: I am also asking because I am leaning towards the recent sales online for the Pentax Line, but I still have had an eye for the pretty hyped Sigma 35!

Send it over.

Is it being sent to precision? I've heard some weird things about the QC before. Is that something I should worry about? (sorry not trying to start another thread)

Hey guys, in a bit of a dilemma at the moment.

My screw drive totally wonked out on me. The power switch is a bit sticky as well.

I bought this online through Adorama and the authorized Pentax repair centre near my house says Ricoh made the decision that since I technically bought it through an American dealer, the warranty does not include it.

The estimate is about 250$ for fixing the screw drive and replacing the power button.

It's a bit steep, should I just bite the bullet and pay for it? Or try and go without it and just use HSM/SDM lenses from now on? The power button is not a make or break.

Alternatively I could ship it to the US and have it under warranty there while paying for tarifs and taxes and the sort.

Help guys :(

I love my k-3 to death, and my DA 50 1.8 as well.

Thanks!

Thanks! Sorry for the late reply! I messaged Pentax support and probably going to message Adorama. I bought it online, so I'm not sure if the Warranty in Canada will be ok :(.

K-3 Auto Focus Stutter?

Hey, It happens on both AFS and AFC.

It racks :(, it just slowly... stutters bit by bit to get into focus. It will eventually get into focus, but it feels like to get into focus, it takes many stutters as if it isn't able to focus with micro movements, and these big stutters come out.

I have cleaned the contacts (or tried to at least) Both the contacts on the mount and the 2 inside.

I'm really scared it could be a serious problem that is hard to fix.

Thanks so far guys!

Hey guys, I've been having problems with my camera... I'm really sad because the auto focus somehow became like this.

I will link a video so you guys can see what I'm talking about.

It happens on both my screw drive lenses I have tried. DA 50 1.8 and my 55-300mm DA. It also happens on my HSM Sigma 17-70mm.

Help :(

Thanks!

Ouuu, next time I'll check out Sarawak if I ever go there again. I didn't have much time for it, it just sorta flew in front of me. Thanks for the insight PJ!

I think that's a very valid point, there's a seemingly "extra" bit in the background, I have tried to crop it a few times, I'll play around with it more. Yeah a bit upset about the front focus. Thanks for the insight :D! Hehe

Wow! Thanks for all the replies guys. I guess I was a bit weird about it or maybe a bit exaggerated! I got a lot of tips, the Sigma is still my favourite lenses, but I guess I just needed that extra bit of knowledge.

Honestly I woke up and found all these insightful replies! Thanks again :D!

Hey guys, I haven't posted a photo in a while, but this is one of my favourite photos (in terms of the moment in time I was when I shot it)

Please critique! I've been wondering, I feel like maybe it's not as sharp as I would have liked it, I like the composition of it, but am not sure what I'm missing. Something feels missing.

Thanks!

Oh man, now I'm beginning to think... I should have posted on another part of the forums :(. I'mma need some more critique! How would I tweak the white balance to get it to the point I want?

Thanks!

That's really true, I've been thinking a lot about the butterfly photo, but... the whole colour scheme in the first place is pretty bland, nothing is available to pop, except maybe the spots. Perhaps I should just appreciate it for it's calm colours in the natural state.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm shooting RAW and exporting using adobe lightroom, sometimes messing with the exposure.

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask but yeah, maybe it could be just my technique or something that's missing to really make the photo pop in the colour aspect. I don't know anything about changing colour space but I should check it out!

I was wondering if it was a difference in the coating of Pentax lenses versus like Sigma or other third party coatings.

Here are some examples of the shots from my Sigma, I guess it could be debated if the colours are lacking.

Uh oh... uhhh... how do I make the photos smaller on the post? Sorry!

Hey guys, I am still working with my Sigma 17-70mm HSM.

The colours are often bland to me, natural but bland, if that makes sense. Are all Sigma lenses like this or am I just being really picky about it?

Perhaps I should edit the photos in photoshop to get the right colours I want.

I feel that the Pentax lense line up is still somewhat limited. If I were to go more third party, which third party lenses are comparable with the best of Pentax?

Thanks!

Thanks a lot! Yeah it does help a lot, been out of the product loop for quite a while now, glad things haven't changed that much. Always wanted a K-7 back then, and now it's already a K-3!

I should definitely prioritize. I think, while I do shoot film sometimes, I don't think it warrants me enough to get a FA lense (but am willing to look at it). I really want a good WR lense, actually, but I really don't think the DA 55* is worth the extra $ just for WR and a bit of a difference in performance from the DA 50 1.8. I am really eyeing the 15mm LTD for one of my earlier additions to my collection. A good call there! Gotta look at some good WR options.

Thanks again!

I have never shot prime out side of film cameras. I wonder how it will feel/compete against my zoom! Thanks for the input. I feel that I will be more free with a brand new body finally.

Hey guys, I haven't been here in a long while, been just living life and with my trusty K-X also!

However, it has come to a point where my K-X just isn't functioning well enough anymore. It seems to be draining batteries at an alarming rate. Fresh new batteries, whether it's my freshly charged Sanyo Eneloops, Crazy Energizer Titanium doo hickies, random Cosco batteries or some other no names. They just drain within a few hours of use (I tend not to even leave the camera on a lot or use flash).

It is the latest firmware, and I have set the battery setting from AUTO to the respective battery modes. I think I've given up on it, causing too much trouble out on the field, constantly needing to change batteries or flip on or off.

Now down to the matter, Should I jump for this?

Pentax K-3 Digital SLR Camera Body Bundle with 50 f1.8 Lens and Battery Grip 15530 KB The K-3 Bundle with grip and stuff?

I have enough money for it, and maybe it's about time (after 5 years with my K-X). It would be nice to have an autofocus 50mm also.

Can anyone also recommend me lenses that I should have a look at?

I've had my 17-70mm Sigma HSM Macro for as long as I've had my K-X almost. It's given me no problems, my main lens everywhere. On the street and most shooting locations, I almost never touch the 17mm end of things, nor do I zoom all the way to the 70mm. The only thing I dislike about this lens is that it is not as sharp as I would like it at times and I dislike how the Sigma handles colours compared to Pentax lenses.

Suggest me anything! Preferably near this range. (For my side stuff in the 100mm+ I am happy with how the DA 55-300mm handles for my purposes).

Been looking at the DA 15mm, DA 20-40mm, DA 40mm, DA* 50-135mm.

Thanks :)!

Looking for a similar lense

Yep, when I was first deciding on a lense in this range, my next choice was the DA 17-70. Maybe I should look into that or maybe I really don't need all that range hehe. I think I might go the prime route. Thanks for the advice :)!

True, I never though about the OS system being more battery consuming! Yikes :o

I will probably look at the 17-70, but I think I can live without the extra 20mm anyways, so maybe in due time I can save up for a 16-50mm or a prime lense of the sort. I really like the idea of silent focusing (or quiet anyways).

That is true that Pentax lenses still have differences in colour renditioning. I should probably put my post-processing into good use. Might take some time, but might save some money as well. I've never been much of a post processor but I guess it won't hurt to get into it :)!

Thanks guys for the reply :D!

Looking for a similar lense

Hey guys! I haven't posted here in forever!

I haven't been as active with photography now, but it has become more apparent when I looked back at my old photos and the performance I got from my lenses.

My main lense currently is a Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM. And I use a Pentax 55-300mm DA f/4-5.8 ED on the side for when I need a telephoto (which is rare now).

I guess as life style changes, also your need for lenses changes.

As much as I love my 17-70mm, I realized that it's not perfect, and no lense is. I love all that it has to offer, but there are things that bug me about it and I'm wondering if you guys could suggest a lense that is similar.

I love the bells and whistles on the Sigma. Macro, OS (that I usually use instead of the stabilizer in my camera but they both work well), the wider range of focal length, and HSM.

But the things that bother me about it are...

When I compare the colours to my Pentax lenses, I prefer the rendering of colours from my Pentax lenses, the Sigma colours to me are too "mature" for my tastes or dark.

Not the sharpest lense in the world, but it does produce really good photos with the right amount of light. I could prefer a sharper lense. (Maybe the macro affects the sharpness)

Thanks, hope I don't sound too picky :(.
