Hi perception-of-light,

Thanks for the feedback. That Hyena pub was hard to capture :) since it kept running around. My own kid also wanted to move on to the lions so I only captured a few shots.

Hi Frank - thanks for the tips. I looked through some of my zoo shot archive and there are indeed a lot of animal head shots :-) ... I'll work on framing and capturing the animals in a compelling composition ... often times I only get a couple of seconds to snap a picture because my kids run off to see the next animal :-) ...

Thanks again!
Hans

Hi Jesse, thanks for the critique!

The lizard was taken through the typical 1 inch (or so) zoo glass so I was quite pleased how it turned out ... I guess the lizard was enjoying the light in its enclosure - maybe taking a meter reading left or right of the subject would have given a less shiny result?

The birds are one of my favorites indeed - I actually took it with my Nikon D50 a couple of days before I sold it ... some cropping might indeed make the image even more compelling, I'll have to play with that.

Thanks again for the feedback, really appreciated!

Hello,

Recently went on a zoo trip with my new K-x camera and 55-300 DAL Kit lens. All pictures are shot handheld and are straight out of the camera - I am really impressed with the in-body shake reduction! ... I'm curious to hear what you think and what I can improve. Thanks, Hans

Hi There,

My name is Hans ... recently switched to Pentax K-x after shooting Nikon DSLR for four years. The in-body shake reduction system as well as the much more reasonably priced lens selection convinced me to make the switch. I'm very impressed with this great, little K-x so far!

I live in beautiful and sunny Colorado. The camera will be put to good use on hikes in the Rockies and trips to Southern Utah. Further I never get tired of taking pics of my two beautiful kids (my boy is 4 and my girl is 19 months).

I'll post some of my recent pics in the critique section tomorrow.

Thanks for reading!

-Hans
