Hey Jeremy! folks! how's it going?
Happy New Year! If you're still in search for a P&S, I'd go for the W60. Picasa Web Albums - Ed - Iqaluit
Here's a shot of our dog... it's kinda grainy, unfortunately, but I've used no flash... :)
Outdoors, with lots of snow the camera is quite good...
On the other hand, if you DO need lots of quality without the "waterproof" feature, there might be a few other better options round...

Ed

Hey Mike, folks! Happy New Year, thanx for sharing...
It seems like Amtrak's got no clue whatsoever... They promote a "cheapo" contest... get their marketing photos for "FREE"... c'mon... $1000 voucher? :( and yet, don't let people take pictures?
That's really sad to see if someone wants to make a living out of photography, things are getting harder and harder...
Wonder what would happen if they see someone with a 500mm or 600mm lens... :) they'll think it's a bazooka, maybe? :(((((

Ed

Hey folks! how's it going?
I'll second that... it's an awesome lens for portraits/stage/concert photography, with ambient light! :)
It might be "too short" for huge venues, or "too long" for tiny "clubs", but still, I think it's tack sharp even wide open... tad bit heavy, but beautiful bokeh...

Ed

hey folks, how's it going?
I don't know, I've never used neither, but I do have a Sigma 70-300mm that makes me wonder why price & quality doesn't quite match & go along with each other... :)
it might be a whole different yard... but i dont like the Sigma zoom I have... even though a prime 15mm I had was pretty good...
If you guys won't mind manual focusing, I'd highly recommend a used Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8
That puppy is freakin'sharp!

Hey folks! Merry Christmas Everybody... hope Santa did a good job, and you're all busy playing with your new lenses/cameras...
I don't have a shot of the lens itself but here's a try-out shot taken yesterday, with my "new" old lens on my K20D! WOOHOOO! LBA's been extended to further & longer roads... heheh

hey folks! thanks for all the comments... When I was chimping outside, I didn't realize the road lights were there... :(
I'd better try it once again when it's not windy.... as it'd be easier to chimp & verify the shots...

hey folks! how's it going?
I've been using the forum for a while, but haven't really posted any photos... so, decided to post one...
Happy Holidays everybody... hope the "Angels" protect/guide and let us have lots of nice photo opportunities in the upcoming year!
Took this shot last night, by the roadsign with the Northern lights in the background. It was quite cold (-40C windchill, so didn't really want to keep trying different settings... :)
I've used a fisheye with f/4 and 30s, with an SB26 on manual power (1/32) for the roadsign...

Hey folks! how's it going?
Thanks JC... Yep, I'm the Brazilian guy lost in the Arctic! :)
I believe that if we dress up properly it's not a big deal at all... well, unless it's -40C WITHOUT the wind as I've experienced a few years back, hehehe
It's -12F (-24C now), without the wind... so i'd say... "everything is relative", hehehe

Hi Juho, folks! how's it going?
I have the Katzeye for my K20D & the "jinfinance" from Ebay on the K10D... I recommend the Katzeye, even though it is more pricey than the Ebay one, but I think it's a bit brighter... and it's horizontal, instead of diagonal...

Ed

hey folks! how's it going?
Greetings from "up here"... :) I'm originally from Brazil, but ended up in the north... waaaaaaay north... I've been around for 6 years or so in Iqaluit, NU.
I've been shooting with Pentax since I was a kid.... well, not that I've grown up that much after 35 years, hehe :)
Anyways, started with a K1000 with a few different cameras in between... now I'm shooting with a K20D, with a K10D back up camera and a nice set of lenses, no limiteds, but from a fisheye to 500mm f/4.5 :)
I love concert photography, even though we don't have that much of an opportunity over here... landscape is always cool... some portraits / commercial shoots here and there...
Regards,
Ed

Hey Zoomdaddy, folks! how's it going?
what kind of photos are you looking into? the K10D, although discontinued, is a GREAT camera! I have one myself and I am 100% happy!
I've recently acquired the k20D as well, it's awesome !so, depending on how much you wanna invest.. I'd have a look at the k10D, or even the k20d...

have you tried to "remove" the battery WHILE the camera's on? I don't know if that would reset the camera and lens...
Regards,
Ed
PS. I've updated mine and it's working good!

Hi Alex, folks! how's it going?
Welcome to the forum! I don't have a k100, but I've been using a Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 with a K10D & a k20D without any problem!
Of course, I can't use the "eletronics", but I can stop down by using the aperture ring!
It ** won't ** lock, but if I'm careful enough, it won't fall off either... there's no need to use an adapter.
Since it's "heavy" I wouldn't hold the camera through the strap anyways! Picasa Web Albums - Ed - Nikkor 80-200...
I've posted a few shots here...
Oh, regarding flashes, I wouldn't use them on the hot shoe, BUT it works perfectly off camera...
I use SB26s with Pulsar from Bowens, a radio trigger, and they work like a charm!
Regards,
Ed
