I'm left-handed too, so that's a preference for me. Also, besides facing to the left, photo A has a certain tension missing from photo B. D over C for the same reason.

When I got my K-5 II, I converted my K-7 to IR. This enabled me to use the camera hand held because of the short exposures possible with a converted camera. An IR filter on a regular camera would require long exposures and the use of a tripod. I also use live view for framing and focusing. In bright daylight this can be difficult without a hood over the viewing screen. I use a Hoodman live view loupe kit on my K-7, but the loupe itself would be sufficient. I guess that I was one of the lucky ones. Mine was one of the first K-5s in Toronto, if not the first. I would definitely agree with the other comments here that the K-5 II (s or non-s variant) would be a better choice. Both my K-5s are fully functional and get equal use; but if I am working in dim light, I use the K-5 II.
I would add that in my nightclub work my K-5 was definitely better in focusing than my K20D or K-7.

I did a lot of shooting in nightclub conditions with my K-5 and found the AF useable, not perfect, sometimes slow; but I got enough keepers to be happy with it. A few years later, when I got my K-5 II, I ran a test of one AF against the other. One night I walked Bloor Street and the Danforth in Toronto doing street photography with the K-5 and the next night with the K-5 II. The K-5 II definitely focused faster and I don't recall any misses. K-5 was slower and did have some misses, but still performed adequately in my mind.

When I got my K-5 II, my K-7, which had backed up my K-5, was no longer needed in that role. I had it converted to infrared. Since then all my image viewing, focusing, and taking with the K-7 has been with live view. No issues, but don't leave live view on too long or the camera will overheat and shut down. When that first happened to me, I didn't understand what was going on.

I ended up using Nikor stainless steel tanks back in the late 50's. I still have these and am still using them. But before then in 1955 I visited the Laurentians in Quebec over the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend and took a roll of 120 Ektachrome film of the fall colours. This was the first time I processed colour film, loading the film into a Kodacraft tank with the clear plastic apron. I went through the different steps, first developer, reversal exposure, second developer, and the other chemistry and wash. Once completed, I removed the film from the tank, only to discover that the film had stuck to the plastic apron and was totally ruined. The only consolation was that the few square inches of film which had not stuck to the apron had been correctly processed and showed wonderful fall colours. At least I knew that I had followed the developing steps correctly.

The chest brace was suggested to me when I purchased Leica Ms in 1975. I bought one but have only used it occasionally. A great combo though.

I started my photography in the early 50s, so a lot of this was familiar to me. I worked at CN Railway in Montreal as a staff photographer during the summers of '60 and '61 while I was in university. One of their photographers told me a story of how he lit a factory floor with a series of #50 flashbulbs. These were large, maybe the size of the old floodlights, maybe a bit smaller. He took the photo and one of them exploded. The poor machine operator he was photographing freaked out, and he had to spend some time calming her down. So he replace all the used bulbs and took another photo. Guess what . . .? Another explosion!

I did too until the occasional scratching became a problem. Reusing cassettes increases the chances of scratching. I solve the problem by always using store-bought film.

I bought and used Leica Ms back in '75 because I wanted to photograph in dimly lit nightclubs. In those days nothing beat the Leica M for focusing in such conditions. My Nikon rangefinders would have done the job just as well; but unfortunately I had sold those in '65. Would I buy a Leica M today? No! Even my Pentax K-5s will do the job, although other brands are better at focusing in dim light.
