We are but who really cares. I have only been asked "why Pentax" once (but i've only had a Pentax for about 5 months), to which I replied, "Because I like it". At first the Nikon shooter was very nice, he came up to me and said, "I notice you had a nice camera" and started a casual conversation. That lasted about 45 seconds then he was trying to tell me this, tell me that, Nikon is better, you should have gotten a Canon, etc..... After only about 5 seconds of that I told the gentleman to "Please stop right there and please stop talking to me, I do not know you, I do not care about what you have to say. You started off nice enough but turned into something I do not wish to waste my time on. Have a nice day with your Nikon and I'll have one with my Pentax", and never heard from the guy again.
Canikons are like street priests. They speak like canikons are the holy gospel and try to push their religon upon the world. I do believe there is free will amongst the free and I tend to tell every canikon that I am entitled to what makes me happy and do not need to justify my SUPERIOR (haha) Pentax to you.

Hello and welcome!. You probably want to ask that question in the photographic technique section. You will get a much better response there. Good luck and Enjoy!

The green button will not always give you the most accurate shutter speed for the given aperture (it always tells me 1/5 or so even when at 1.7, outside during the middle of the day) so I suggest trial and error. At 1.7, ISO 400 and moderate lighting you should be much faster than 1/5 so do not always trust the green button. If things are whited out just speed up the shutter, lower the ISO or close the aperture, trial and error.

I say go for the 12-24 (give you flexibility at the wide end), you have the mid ranges covered with the primes and me personally I would want to bring something at least in the 200mm range. Some close ups of Mt Rushmore would be cool and as Vievetrick said CameraLensRentals.com - Canon, Nikon and Pentax Lens Rentals. is a great place to rent. In fact I have the DA* 16-50 and FA31 ltd currently en route. If you do decide to use that website, your first rental gets 10% off by entering "CLR" in the coupon redemption code (or something to that effect). But no matter where you rent I say rent for sure. Those 2 primes will do ok but more range is always better, especially on vacation.

I did my Kx update on a fully charged set of Eneloops and everything went fine. It did take about 150 seconds and there is no way Eneloops will die that fast so you'll be fine.
**Did you say you took about 50 shots and got the low battery warning? Were the Eneloops fully charged? If so something is wrong. There is no way you should be getting only 50 shots. If that is the case then don't use the Eneloops to update your firmware. Get a new set of Eneloops or different batteries.

1. I cannot think of a reason. The day I got mine I expanded it and have never changed it back. Why not use ISO 100 if it's available.
2. Seconds. Once you get close to and above 1 second shutter lag it will shot that sign indicating seconds.
3. I do not know
4. It's just different settings you can use for your photos. I believe there's bright, vibrant, monochrome, etc... It applies different color balances, sharpness, saturation etc...
5. This is completely up to the user but I use optical preview.

It can happen any/every time you focus anywhere closer than infinity but you will notice it more on closer shots. To test it you can do a controlled test with a focus chart. Just search for "focus chart" and print one out (or you can do the battery test - I'll explain that after). Focus on the center line of the chart and view the photo on your computer to see if the front, back or center is in focus. The battery test - set up 3 batteries in a diagonal line about 2 inches apart, focus on the middle battery and again view on the computer to see which battery is in focus. Good luck.

Card class would be the first thing I think of. I have had this problem before with my Kx but very seldom, maybe 1/100. Check to see if you have any corrections on (CA, Shadow, Highlight etc...) and/or copyright info, those things can slow down the review process.

That's a vague scenario. Does this happen all the time, when the camera is on or only once or twice in a day? A jammed shutter button would probably cause the camera to continuously shoot until powered off. Maybe a power short internally could cause that to happen a few times. Maybe a software or hardware malfunction. But beyond that I cannot see why that would happen.

That difference is kind of hard to explain without doing a side by side comparison. Some can tell the difference between 12MP and 14MP while others cannot. I have a Kx and my friend has a K7 and while I have not taken the same picture with both cameras to compare, I have seen pictures from both and I can barely (if at all) tell a difference between IQ when using the kit camera on both cameras.
But yes I think a lens has the most affect on IQ. You can see a huge difference from a Limited to a $50 lens.

There are no reviews for the Sigma 28-300m DG Macro lens on here so are there any of you out there that have used this lens? Is it any good?
I want to get the Sigma or the Tamron 28-200 XR Di. Which do you believe will be the better performer?
Also if I get the Tamron lens, is there really a difference between the XR and the XR Di version?

You may have a back focusing issue and that can be corrected on a K20 or K7 for individual lenses and on the Kx it can be done but it will correct it for all lenses across the board.
If back focus is not the issue than it could be that there is no problem at all because like you said 1.4 has a very small DOF and the few centemeters from the eyes to the shirt collar can make a focusing difference.
To see if it's a back focusing issue you can do the batter test. Set up 3 batteries in a diagonal line, just a few centemeters apart and focus on the middle battery and see if you pictures come out focused anywhere else other than the middle battery (make sure you do the test at 1.4).
