Nice capture. Looks to me like a bit too much clarity or dehaze in post. Love the scene though.

While there is a lot going on in the first shot, it seems to capture the place nicely, and it gives better contrast to the tree than the second shot.

In contrast to the first poster suggestion for I cropping, I would crop out most of the watery grass section in the bottom of the frame. This leaves you with just the brightly lit tree, a bit of grass for it to sit on, the faint tree line in the background and the bright fog. To me, that is what the picture is really all about.

Definitely soft on the edges fully open. I wonder if focusing past infinity would change that?

I only have one 85mm prime, the M85 f2. I must say that I use it more for landscape than portraiture. On the K3 it is very sharp edge to edge to that use. Color and contrast does not match the DA limiteds, but I never hesitate to grap this lens if it is the right focal length.

I find this focal length very good for elements set in the landscape

Shot with a K3ii and DA*300mm set to AV at f7.1 and ISO 200. Bracketed 5 exposures with maximum spread. The darkest exposure was not dark enough to capture the prominences. Blended 3 exposures for this image, 1.3, 1/13 and 1/50 seconds.
I didn't have a solar filter for the camera (just glasses), and I found it very hard to get the sun in the frame before totality. The first group of shots was just outside the frame. Fortunately, I looked through the lens at totality, and was able to get subsequent shots properly framed. |

Sort of surreal image. Much better than I expected from the thumbnail. Did you use a lot of clarity in Lightroom?

I nominate this picture because of the solid compostion, clarity of subject, and humor.

I nominate this photo. I like the texture of the tree which sort of repeats the texture of the sky. The placement of Venus nicely balances the image.

Best Selfie ever! Nominated. Very creative. It really shows what someone can do with "traditional" techniques, for a very stunning effect.
