Thanks Nesster. I was thinking about a Pentax brand one, but I think I'll look for their extension tubes instead. Now I'll only lose the auto focus funtion on my 645NII, but will still have AF confirmation, correct?

Wondering what the groups thoughts were on close-up lenses? Are they better for the occassional documentation of serial numbers and the like? Or are they adequate for serious close experimentation? Should I just look for a 120 macro?

I use these folks, but primarily because they're local. Good results though.

Traditional print vs scan & print

I agree with you Herb on the many variables. I suppose the question was more academic than practical. That and trying to rationalize not spending any more money that I don't have on a MF scanner! Thanks

Traditional print vs scan & print

I caught someone's comment about his tradtional print giving him more detail than his scan through a Nikon 9000. Given the variences n the scannng process, I was wondering if anyone else has had a realzation that a traditinal print of their 645 negative was "better" than a scan & print from the same neg? Or has the reverse been more often the result?

Nice! I was bitten by the bug not too long ago as well. Adorama had a demo model that was practically unused that I was able to get. Now to stock up on film!

Got sniped and lost it in the last seconds :( Got a phone call from my son at the instant I thought I better bump up my max bid! Went for $67. How much higher do you think I should have gone? I was thinking $80?

I started using these guys in SF. Very nice folks

Oscars Photo Lab - Your Professional Full-Service Lab in San Francisco

They offer 4 levels of scans as well. Very nice for those of us who don't have $2k for a scanner!

Good luck!

So did you ever buy anything from Tin Cheung? I'm curious what your experience was. They have the AG-80 screen for my 645NII, but I'm just hesitant until I hear what more people have experienced. Thanks

I've picked up a like new P645NII and I've grown to really like a grid screen. Does anyone know the Pentax stock number for their grid screen? Is there more than 1 type? I think I'd rather stay with an OEM screen (Pentax). Thanks

That makes sense. It seemed inconsistent to me that something would be broken without any outward signs of damage or abuse.

You've allowed me to sleep easier now. Thank you!

I just picked this lens up. The optics and body are immaculate. But I noticed when I cock the leaf shutter, there is a springy resistance that I don't feel on a large format camera shutter. Is this normal?
