I don't pay attention to most reviews outside pentax, at least not closely. Therefore should i bad mouth how dpr bad mouths pentax or just bad mouth dpr in general? This is why i prefer a case by case instead of a special thread. Besides the characters change over time and the consistency of negative is iffy. I would be interested IF a conspiracy against pentax could be found but i think its just famboy and free dinner bias.

Maybe never, seeing its in many of their lenses AND its in the lenses of the 3rd party lens makers that support them.
Probably take the same time to develop as it takes for Pentax to get their PRIMES to market.
Well, for Fuji, they attacked the weakest point in the market with great success. So much so that the revenue generated will bring a budget MF body to market this year that no one will match for price or quality.Next year they bring the 100mp body to market,i suppose their modern lenses will have expanded from the 6 present ones to around the double figure mark by then.
Olympus and Panasonic share M43,neither need to do FF when they own that segment. Many who are sick of the weight of Dslr love the compactness of some of the bodies and lightweight lenses...Both those companies do some OK video too.Their high res modes are a bit like PS.
Yes,of course...But Pentax is 5-15 years behind in what?..lots,but pixel shift counteracts that?Beauty IS in the eye of the beholder!

Have you not been watching the news? It is the era of conspiracy theories. One well-distributed absurdity is as good as 50 well-documented facts.

I doubt I will move to the Fuji system, I may but lets wait and see what it looks like after its been out a while.
What I don't get is why you all get your knickers in a twist when somebody calls Pentax out for their poor performance. Its almost like they are a God and somebody is insulting them.
So lets look at it like this. Pentax's biggest asset is also its biggest shortfall.
Pentax has long touted the 645 digital system as being so great because there are so many legacy lenses available for it. Great! But this is the part they don't get in their business plan. You don't make money out of selling bodies, so the used lens market is not helping them, its holding them back because they are relaxed in their attitude of releasing new lenses and because their profits are very very low because they are not selling any new gear.
So if you paint the picture, they are selling possibly quite a few bodies but selling little lenses. So they are not making any cash to help fund R&D. Fuji on the other hand is now selling bodies and lenses and thus can push forward with development.
I am not sure what business school their execs went to but its not what I see as a great idea.
Here is another example. Pentax (and Pentaxians on here) also shout that the body is good for a future full frame 645 chip. Great! So why release a $5000 DA 28-45mm lens that only supports crop. I just don't get it. What they should have done is release a D FA 28mm f/4 (or 30mm) with filter support, at a lower cost, with future-proofing and they would have sold much more. How many times have new 645D/Z adopters on here said "I'd love the 28-45 but its just too expensive". No shit.
Pentax's strategy makes no sense, its like they are all over the place. Their roadmaps mean nothing and can be taken with a grain of salt also.
Finally, why I use Pentax is my business, not yours so don't worry. Your comment screams typical Pentax user "don't pick at my toys and insult my choices, go elsewhere". That attitude does not help anybody. I was clearly stating that I was jealous of the Fuji lineup and wish dearly that Pentax could offer me a 23mm f/4 that takes filters as well.

One issue Pentax will have going torward is, with their recent modest successes everyone will try to mimic their pricing model and steal a forkful of Pentax's slice of the format Pies. That would be OK, except Pentax is too small to simultaneously- Introduce and develop K-mount FF
- Introduce new 645 FF body
- Extend development of K-mount APSc bodies
- Develop and introduce modern lenses for all three platforms
- Develop a Mirrorless presence in any (or all) platforms
- Extend Q Mirrorless platform (and lenses)
- Develop and extend (Ricoh-branded) Theta, risking their first-mover advantage
- Develop brand-level service, marketing and support programs
Ricoh the parent must allocate capital to the Imaging Division to help it mature.

Not so... USD$2,295 and $2,695 for the 45mm f/3.5 and 90mm f/4.5 respectively... Not cheap, for sure, but in Hasselblad's world that's quite reasonable.

The 645z is at the 7k price point, weather sealed, and has a number of lenses available for it. I don't think these are really competitors.

Though the build quality is frankly...rather disappointing. the DA*55mm f/1.4 is considered to be usable on the K-1, however that lens has inherently high contrast which affects the quality of its bokeh... not in a good way.

The odd thing to me is when people perceive positive comments about a different brand from the one their shooting as being a slight directed at their own chosen brand. I like the K-1, but that doesn't mean that the A7r II and D810 aren't great cameras, they just aren't cameras I own or, am likely to own because of my glass line up.

Perhaps you should not assume that the term "well executed" means only images shot in perfect lighting. That is your definition, not mine. There is vastly more to it than that. I really can't see how you managed to interpret my comment as you did. Kindly do not tell me what I need. After over 20 years of professional digital imaging, I think I can make that judgement for myself.
As you noted, your 10,000 ISO example is "pushing it". It represents only a small part of the broad spectrum of photography. There are extremes at which one format is better than the other. There is also a very large overlap in which both will produce excellent results.
No, I did not go FF for what you call downrezzing. I use the full resolution of the sensor to produce large images for sale in art galleries. I chose an A7r because it allows me to adapt some excellent MF lenses that cannot be adapted to Pentax, and I already owned, making the FF transition relatively affordable.

Speaking as someone who has used an A7r intensively for two years, I cannot agree that the K-1 will be "miles ahead" of the K-3ii in terms of real world image quality. A 24 megapixel, no AA filter sensor is perfectly capable of producing excellent large prints. In the real world the differences between well-executed images from the two cameras will be fairly subtle. The extra resolution of a 36 megapixel sensor is nice, and does improve the rendering of fine detail somewhat, but that's all.
I do see the K-1 having advantages in terms of a larger viewfinder, better image stabilization, robustness in tough conditions, and shutter longevity. It appears to be the basis of a very solid system that will serve many people well.
I got an A7r because it works beautifully with a number of my lenses that cannot be adapted to Pentax. I also find the EVF very useful in situations that occur often in my work, such as manual focus with ultrawide lenses, in deep forest under heavy overcast.
I may pick up a K-1 in a year or two if it meets expectations.

The place where the author lost me was when he listed "wildlife" among the subjects where FF was an upgrade. I now shoot with both, but unless I can get really close, wildlife is a big stronghold for APS-C. A DA*300 + TC gets me a very portable rig capable of outstanding quality on the K3. Packing the 630mm or more of glass needed for the same FOV on a FF sensor is much more of a challenge.
I really do not understand why people get so worked up about this. If you are driving the Autobahn, a Porsche is a huge upgrade over a jeep. If you are going up a dirt trail on the side of a mountain, not so much.

I say you're looking at the matter from your own personal preferences. If the feature you need is burst speed and
the advantages of FF are irrelevant for your photograph needs, then yes K-3ii would be an 'upgrade' over a K-1.
A Ferrari is not an upgrade over a pickup if your need is to haul 3/4 ton of hay. ---------- Post added 03-22-2016 at 03:42 PM ----------
Ha! True enough. I remembered that point just as I was leaving for the vet's office. Good call. All the more irrelevance to
speak of 'upgrading' gear without qualification of function or need.

Upgrade implies 'better'. But what if you're goal is portability, or fps? Then upgraded
picture quality may not matter and APS-C > FF not an upgrade.
In all cases it is a change of format. But it may offer upgraded or downgraded features
depending on the models in question and your needs.
