I’ve owned the 645z and now have the Fuji 50s. The Pentax lenses with adapter on Fuji perform well. I actually don’t have a Fuji Lens due to $$$. I had a K1 also, and the 645z and 50s noticeably have more detail in them. For instance I went to Monument Valley and my hard drive failed. I only have the jpg from my smugmug website 50mb+. But it still enabled me to have 6ft print printed nicely. Also, full frame Pentax lenses are nice for portrait on the 50s, 50mm1.2, 43mm, etc. Photo Sharing. Your Photos Look Better Here. |

Sorry I mistyped 6x7 105mm 2.4 was the lens. Glad to help. The 45-85 is heavy but crazy sharp right? I feel like its great for that depth in portraits where MF shines.

It does, but my style of shooting is a face smusher, at least for portraits. I like the feeling of the camera against my face as I hold it and compose the shot. I never got used to handling it farther away while using the lcd. Now if I just shot landscapes, LCD view I can handle b/c I always use tripod and shoot slower on landscapes than I do portraits.

k1 with an EVF so I can enlarge and use focus peaking through the EVF. I would sell my sony and would love to have AF back on my Pentax lenses for that.

If you're considering the older FA 50mm 1.4, I would also recommend the 43mm limited. I love the rendering of that lens on full frame. I love it so much that I even use it on medium format.

I prefer the 120mm if you want the clothing details to be super sharp, the 150 is great for portraits more I feel so as artistic versus in a catalog

my 2 cents - I love the 35 3.5 and the 6x7 55. I was lucky enough to get the 645 300 FA*, but I don't think you can go wrong. It all depends on how you see the composition and which lens enables you to capture as you envision it.

Welcome! The 645z is amazing with all those details captured. I lost my monument valley raws and had to download jobs from my website and I was still able to make a 17x5ft print panorama with great detail. There’s affordable lenses to get. I actually have 2 if you’re interested. But definitely look up the lens reviews for the 35mm 645, 45-85mm, and 55 f2.8. There’s long lenses that are great also, 200mm is sharp, 300mm* sharper, and the 6x7 120mm f 2.4 with adapter is awesome for portraits

Welcome! Try changing to dng files for raw. I find it’s more compatible with different editing software and quality is the same. I like the luminar edits more than lightroom presets. I’ve only started but can’t wait for the luminar ai to come out. There’s a lot of solid Pentax cameras, k3 was my apsc workhorse forever until the k1 full frame. Ergonomics, menu, capabilities for the price, and Pentax glass I love

I have the same swabs and liquid. However I use the blower or my 2hp shop vac with hepa filter sometimes to suck up the dust. Just be careful not to hit anything important, usually the lens mount opening is too small for the tube but careful how you angle the vacuum bc it is pretty darn strong. I’ve only swabbed once per 6 months, and only bc I was on a boat and changed lenses there

Dual user here, I love the pentax lenses and part of the move to sony was because I could not hit critical manual focus or even sometimes critical auto focus when shooting wide open, f1.2-1.9. It isn't a problem with the pentax body, which I've had numerous since k10 to k1. The fault lies with me, but that fault is corrected with the ability to enlarge and focus peak while looking at the EVF for mirrorless (I hate using the LCD). For me, the ability to see critical focus through the EVF is what really sent me to sony mirrorless, and their eye focus was just cheating to boot - Having to just worry about composition and shoot at lowest iso without camera shake without worrying about misfocus (eyes vs nose) for wide open portraits was the most attractive point. If I had the loot, I would still have the k1 for landscape/portrait, but since $ is a factor, I could only afford to keep my k10 and k5. I made my favorite images from Pentax, and the camera has loads of features, and I still think its the best bang for your buck, and I think the color rendition is better than the sony, it is warmer and fits my taste. However, for people like me who can't nail autofocus or manual focus when using a lens wide open, then mirrorless helps out tons. It drives me crazy when the eye isn't on focus but the cheek/eyelash/ or nose is
I'll never let go the Pentax lenses, the limiteds have pixie dust for sure. The sony/sigma lenses I have for FE mount are clinically good. However, Pentax limited lenses have a lot of character, and those add a layer to the style of the photographer. That being said, I wouldn't buy the autofocus adapter from pentax to sony because I can manually focus critically without error when doing portraits. For action/birding, the native FE lenses are pretty darn good. However, if I didn't have long FE telephoto lenses and had a FA/DA 300mm f4.5/f4, I would probably try the adapter. I was shooting with the cosina 55mm 1.2 and the pentax 50/1.2, and I've never had so many keepers before. Again, thats a user error that is fixed with mirrorless technology. If I could focus critically with the Pentax, I would still have the trusty K1. That being said, I do have a lot of portraits using limited lenses from 2.8 to 5.6 that I love and really show off their character. But now on mirrorless, I can use any lens wide open and know I hit critical focus where I wanted.
