Comparing D700 with K-7 is not fair ! (regarding price and format)
However, as I have both of them, my experience is that ergonomically D700 comes close to K-7, by customizing D700.
AF operation of D700 is far superior. But for situations where critical and fast AF is not required (and High ISO of course) K-7 and even better K-X do the job just fine and more easily (less weight and size)

FA31 first ! It covers all the needs of a "normal" lens in APS-C (focal length = 31 x 1.5 = 46.6). By some kind of mystery this is exactly the mean value of the standard accepted "normal" lens (50 mm) and of Pentax proposed "normal" lens (43 mm). Check : (50+43)/2 = 46.5 mm !
It is a lens once mounted to your camera and it can stay there for ever !

I have a K35/3.5 but just cannnot give this lens. Together with FA31 they are my best.
But I wish you to find one in good condition. Be careful with the aperture blades operation! If they don't work smooth, the problem is usually in the aperture plate mechanism behind exactly the rear plate. Cleaning is what needed. !
I wish the best success in your inquiry
best regards
Paul

Asahi Pentax Spotmatic Asking Price
40 Euro Item Location
Corinth, Greece Item Description
Classic Asahi Pentax Spotmatic, with M42 lens mount.
In fully working condition. It needs only battery for the internal light meter. As I have not installed a battery for many years, I don't know about the precision of light meter operation.
Its use was limited to one film per year, just to keep the camera in working. Mainly it stayed on my office as a collector's item.
My job conditions have changed, so if another member wants a classic camera for display (and for some film FF work) it is an opportunity. As a gift only, a classic auto Mamiya sekor lens (in fair condition, with a little bit of axial play in the barrel, but fully working) is provided.
Delivery in : Two working days (max) from payment receipt. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

The combinations can be varied, but such a three-primes kit (20 - 35 / 43 - 70 / 150) can be light also.

Strange behavior - soft and front focus. Nothing in common with my FA31 (MIJ). I've noticed to some FA31 much improved results in f2.0 instead of f1.8.
Test again from f2.0 to f2.8. The photos should be super sharp with some Chromatic aberrations in out of focus areas. From f4.0 to f8, CAs are 99% disappeared.

As bdery said it is surprisingly good and so small and light. It could easily be in a bag, when traveling light is a necessity, to cover focal length around 200 mm. It seems that there are not many available now, but this one sample is really excellent.

Korinth, Greece Item Description
This rare lens is in excellent condition with original built-in hood, and caps. No scratches, or signs anywhere. Focus is smooth and precise. Aperture blades are clean and work perfectly. No scratches, haze or fungus on the glass. Dust ingress minimal.
Although working nice (and easy especially with trap focus), I have used it rarely.
Great lens for collectors, or anyone looking for a light and relatively small telephoto (225 mm in APS-C format). Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

Pentax system offers an advantage but not that much - around 1 stop, I mean in real life. If you have to go further the results are not always predictable and / or repeatable. This applies to lenses such as FA31, FA43, DA70. Maybe my hands are shaking, but this procedure, to wait the "hand" and to be careful even about the breathe is not so effective (at least for me). Of course it is so welcome (better than nothing)
On the other hand, Nikon system is just so much better. I'm not talking about mega-expensive lenses. Take for example the 70-300 VR (around 480 Euros in Greece). It works just instantly from the first press of shutter, in panning, in shaking hands, from moving vehicle etc (there are two options for operation) and the advantage is easily around 4 stops ! So their system does not work just a little better. It really works much better and in a predictable and constant way.
I am not talking from technical specs. But I have both systems and work them a lot. For Nikon primes the old rule of thumb min shutter speed = 1/focal range works just fine, but with D700 high ISO capacity, really there is no worry.
Bye
Paul
