Hi, bought a broken K30. Had problems with K50 firmware, stuck in menu screen, fixed that, reverted to k30 firmware. But mode dial and back wheel do not work. There were signs somebody had opened the camera before, a missing screw :)
So i opened the camera, top part, and the flexible PCB that goes to mode dial and back wheel was broken, as in there was some kind of tape and inside the pcb in 2 pieces, completely separated.
From k30 parts list i think is T50 Shoe Flexible Printed Circuit (77650-T50,A92 x2).
Is there a place one can find such parts, or does anybody know a way to repair a broken PCB that is so small?
I can still use the battery in my functional K50, and the 18-55 lens, now i can choose 1 out of 3, but would be a shame not to resurrect this camera if it would be possible.
Thanks for your thoughts, have a great year and interesting subjects to capture!
Edit: tou can see the back dial wheel in the camera picture, and a piece of the flexible circuit

Make a short video, show your serial, camera, explain and show your problems there. Send a CD/DVD with camera also to Pentax Service. Don't "try" to make it work, if it failed, will fail again. Get it fixed or one that work for the price you paid for.

Again the squirrel king feel is his duty to defend Pentaxland. I can't understand why do you care? Somebody posted he found a problem that was not suppose to happen (i think Pentax stated that was an early models problem before some date). Ok, Pentax did what a fair company should do, and they are changing his camera. Good for you and others who do not have problems, i don't think anyone stated all K-5's have problems. Do you get a "loyal fan-boy" ribbon if you comment on everyone who talk about a problem?

As long as the Pentax/Ricoh/Ricpen/Cohtax camera work perfectly and has a decent price and post sale support i don't care, they can write in front "sh1t", "crap", "junk" or whatever.

Quality control is all those complex things they were doing and failing. I don't think any unsatisfied owner cares about Canikon failures in QC. You buy a product, whatever the price is, and expect for it to performed as described. It's not the end of the world, they took responsibility for it, can and will be fixed. But i guess many are waiting for the next official statement "we've replaced all the crap parts, no more afected cameras on the market". Then probably you will see K5 higher in rankings.

Off topic. I'm glad at least somebody still have confidence in american cars. :D
On topic: it's my way, k-x is the one for me, i use the Force to keep away LBA or CBA. I don't need to upgrade since i'm not making money out of photography.
