Press Shutter Release and nothing happens

I didn't change anything that I know of. The camera didn't respond to remote either. I thought at first that was the problem. Funny thing is the red light blinks like it's supposed to when the remote option is activated.

Unfortunately I think Ex Finn. is right, time for a new camera!

Yes, it does focus. I took out the new card and put in the old one, no difference.

Took the card out and reinserted just to make sure. Closed up tightly. I even put the camera on Auto Pic to see if that would take, flash pops up, view finder shows info, but no pic.

I think I'm going to be sick. I am supposed to take pictures at my cousins wedding tomorrow, so I got camera out a couple of days ago, put in new batteries, bought a brand new sd card and made sure it was all ready to go. Tonight, I mounted it on my tripod to check the remote control and NOTHING HAPPENS!!! I press the shutter release button and nothing. No noise, no click, no picture. The LV works, everything is showing fine on the screen, but I'm not getting any pics. When I press the shutter release button the screen goes black until I release it. Have I changed some setting by accident or am I just screwed??? Camera is a Kx.

Thanks in advance.

I'm interested in the 16-45mm lens. How much do you want for it?

This is a great thread! I love all the pics of everyone's baby's. Mine are definitely my favor subject.

This is my almost 5 year old PekeTzu, playing with my Kx and fisheye lens.

Hi All, and Merry after Christmas. I feel so bad about the challenge. My entire house came down with the flu, from me and Grandpa down to the 9 month old Grand daughter. And no one wants to see pics of that! But congratulations to those that carried on. I haven't been to the folders in days and am looking forward to seeing the rest of the photos.

Best to all as we head to the new year.

Well, that's so not good. Guess back to Ebay it goes. So much for my first attempt at buying a new lens. Second times a charm right?

Thanks for your help.

I recently purchased a Vivitar 28mm lens that is supposed to be a K-mount and fit on my Kx but I can't seem to figure out how. Is there something that I need to adapt it.

I've attached photos. Thanks for the help. This is my first venture into buying a different lens, and I hope I didn't screw up and get the wrong thing.

This sounds like fun. And I would love feedback on my photos. I'm brand new to everything involving photography, so this will be a chance to experiment. Is the folder already set up where we post the photos?

Kx-Stupid beginner or fault?

Ira, I stated in my original question that pressing the button to manually pop up the flash did not work, and that yes, I had the camera powered on, and no I was not in any of the modes that prohibit the flash from working.

As for "how" I set the flash to manual rather than automatic, I went into my menu and changed it from auto to manual.

I believe that answers your "uncomplicated" question.

Prince5,

Thanx for the reply. I actually began my troubleshooting by setting my flash to manual and trying to press the popup button. If it hadn't been working before, I would have gone straight to defective, but it just seems wierd that after using it twice it would get stuck and not open. I have tried all I can think of, so unless someone here can think of something I may have inadvertently done, I guess I will send it back. :(

Jeff and Frank,

Thanx for the replies. The power is definately on, and the dial is not on the "no flash" setting. I have looked through the manual a dozen times to see if I could have set something to make it not pop up, but I'm thinking maybe it's just defective.

Hi everyone. I am new to DSLR cameras, just purchased my Kx about 2 weeks ago. When I first opened the box, I was playing around with shots and am positive that the pop up flash was up, because my husband was yelling at me about the flash in his eyes.

Today I was taking some shots at work, and the flash wouldn't pop up, even though the pics were coming out dark. I thought maybe it was just borderline too bright, so I tried to raise it manually by pressing the button on the top, per the manual. Still nothing. I even went into a room, turned out the lights and took shots, nothing. But I know it worked before.

Could I have done something unknowingly to make it not work, or do I just have a faulty camera?

Thanx in advance!

Sam
