Lowepro SlingShot 350 AW is my camera bag of choice. I can carry my Pentax K-x, all my lenses(4) extra batteries, filters, cleaning equipment. When fully loaded about 12 lbs of stuff. Been on several aircraft and had no problems going through security checks. It has the added feature of a waterproof cover, (needed this in Hawai'i during a torrential downpour).

With models like this, the background shouldn't matter. She is going to make a gorgeous bride. Good luck.. If you want i have a sigma 24 - 70 lens I could lend you.. would be perfect for the shoot.

Just my opinion, but in this particular case the person in the foreground is very distracting to the photo as whole. If I wanted to put someone in this photo, they would be closer to the tower to give some perspective of dimension to the tower.

Festive is the word at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver B.C. (Home of the 2010 Olympics and the Stanley Cup Riots).. Maybe i wouldn't be so "shaky" taking time lapse of some of the exciting rides.

A couple weeks ago, my wife and I were travelling though Yellowstone. A large group of people had stopped to take pictures of a couple of Buffalo on the side of the road. As I was trying to get a good shot too, I noticed some movement beside me in a tree. As everyone was jostling to get the Buffallo, I had a great photo op with this smaller citizen of the park. No one else noticed him. It was a one on one opportunity. Between the lighting and the subject, what more could a photographer ask for.

From the years I have been taking photographs, I have learned that it is not the camera or the lens that makes a good photograph. A good photograph starts in your brain. A good photographer knows when to walk away when there is no real opportunity. I have seen some absolutely breathtaking photography from a simple point and shoot. It's whats in the photo that counts.
You have chosen a very good camera/lens combo that will let you be creative in capturing the "shot".
I am in my 60's and I am considered by my peers to be a very good photographer, but the reason is I hone my skills by taking photo courses, looking at a lot of other photographer's works, and taking lots and lots of photos.
Remember the difference between a good photographer and a poor photographer, the good one only shows you his best.
So, get out there, learn and take lots and lots of pictures (films cheap). :)

Hi
Just picked up a "new" lens for everyday shooting. I haven't had it to fully test it yet, but the few shots I have taken have impressed me over the Kit lenses I got with the K-x. I will keep you posted as I play with this some more, and post some pics.

I just got back from an Alaskan Cruise where I was the Official Photographer for a large Group of people travellng together (about 300). There were several functions onboard where I had to officiate as photographer. I had my standard 18-55 lens and a Bower TTL flash unit at most of the functions.
The photo's turned out absolutly fabulous. I would post some of them but at the moment they are being reviewed for international publication in their "Club" magazine.
I had a lot of the group question me on my choice of camera (a lot were canikon owners) and were impressed with some of the features that theirs did not have and if they did paid a lot more for the camera. So, as time goes by, the love relationship gets better every day. I can't wait to get some more lenses to add to my collection.

I was recently on an Alaskan Cruise and got some absolutly wonderful shots of Glaciers and mountains etc. When I looked at the results on my PC I noticed some "dust spots". I thought I didn't clean my lenses properly because "stupid me" I was using pockets to store them. After some cleaning and test shots, I realized that these "dust spots" were on the CMOS sensor. After carefully re-reading several times on the dangers etc. I attemtped some minor cleaning. Using the shake mode about a dozen times without success, I got out my can of compressed air. Holding the camera body with the opening facing the ground I gave it a couple of gentle shots of air into the cavity. Keeping a lot of digits crossed, I did some more test shots. I was lucky this time and all of the dust had been removed from the sensor.
So, a word to the wise, DON'T STORE YOUR LENSES IN YOUR POCKETS if you are on a shoot that requires lens changes. In future I am going to carry that awkward camera bag with me because I don't want to find something that can't be easily removed.
A little footnote: On this cruise I saw a lot of Nikons and Canons and no Pentax's. I did get a lot of questions on my choice of camera from other travellers. We started comparing features and cost and I raised more than one eyebrow over the features available on my camera as opposed to some of the more costly canikons they had. The one question I did get asked is if this is such a good camera, why didn't the Cruise Photographers use it. Well, my answer is "Ask the Photographer how much the Cruise line paid the High End Nikons they were using." That usually made them think a bit when I told them this camera (K-x) was equal to what they were using.
So, Happy Photography to everyone

Hi
Yes I am a "cheapo" photographer. Mostly because my accountant doesn't like my "expensive" hobby. So, I got the Bower Flash. It works very good. I have only had a few problems. When I turn it on and try a picture (set for manual flash) I sometimes don't get a flash on the first shot. And a couple of times (bad connection???) the flash set itself at maximum and the shot was totally flooded. Other than that it's worked out great. I did one photo shoot with about 200 shots and the flash worked the whole time without a glitch and I got some execellent results.

Hi
I am a recent owner of a K-x and I am amazed by some of the shots this camera does. My wife and I went on a little overnight sea cruise and there was some "on Board" entertainment. I just happen to have my K-x and the 55-300 lens attached. (Just came in from doing some scenery shots). The entertainers were quite good and I decided to see if I could take a couple of shots without the flash. We had ringside seats so shooting around people's heads was not a problem. Here are a couple of examples of what I got.
Ken.
The first picture is at 1/125 f/4 and the ISO was set for 1600 and these girls were not standing still "Rollin' on the River"
The second one about the same. All with stage lighting.

Hi, for lack of space in my camera bag, I opted for a rubber lens hood. So far, I have had no "bad"experience with it. The good thing is that is already on my lens for a quick change of lenses. If I get a different carry bag that will accomdate the hard lens hood, then I might think of changing. |

It arrived in the mail quicker that I thought. Threw some batteries in it, slapped it on and turned it on. And voila :D it works likes magic. With the difuser all my indoor shots are more natural colour and softer than the built in flash. I would show them off but my wife doesn't like being on the internet.. ;);)
thanks again for all the input.
