this site has many reviews that might give you a clearer idea, but I owned a k-x before this, and I have to say the high iso was better on the kx. The k20 still performs well, but you might want to look at a fast lens with it. The k20 body has a much nicer feel for me, and is set up for more advanced shooting. I have not heard anything from the other member yet so no worries.

ya I couldn't believe my luck when I saw it. I still wish It was free of these little defects, I would have loved to of sold it to put towards a fast zoom. I can't complain though it is a fantastic lens, and luckily the fungus doesn't seem to effect the image. Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks guys for the advice, I will put it in the sun. About drilling out the screw, do I need to worry about metal shavings entering the lens?

I just picked up a Pentax-f 1.7 50mm at an estate auction. I was not able to check the lens very well and it appears to have a small amount of fungus on the outer edge of the front element. It does not seem to effect the image at all,or at least from what I can tell. I considered trying to clean it, but when I looked at removing the front half of the lens, it seems someone else tried and stripped out a screw. That's not the worst part they must have tried to drill out the stripped screw. I suppose a pro might be able to remove it. I wanted to know if you think it would be worth the cost, and if I have to worry about the fungus growing more and effecting the image. Everything else on the lens works perfectly. I originally had hoped to clean it up and sell it to put towards a fast zoom. Thanks in advance.
