Hello all,
Back after a long time and knowing it is a Pentax family, I will still be welcomed :)
I have a question regarding the flash setting on the K3. What is the use of the 'Manual Flash Discharge' setting. I note that you can decrease the power if wanted.
Thanks and cheers.

Hi Ant,
You may have noticed that this happened almost a year ago. If Pentax have an offer then it is a new one and nothing to do with the one I was talking about. Why don't you contact Pentax Europe to ask about the offer in Italy?
Regards.

Hi all.
Thanks once again for your help. I been to Denver and back. I thought I'll shows you a few of the shots I took. Sorry if you think these are too many.
OK so this first one is not exactly in Denver but on the flight from Manchester to Chicago
This one is at the Saturday market in Denver - I got to try my new DA* 50-135 which had been waiting for me at Denver.
I managed to get to the Garden of the gods in Colorado Springs
A visit to the state capitol building was very interesting
Last of all, not forgetting the convention centre where I attended the conference - The Blue Bear
Cheers.

Hi all,
Apologies for the dramatic title :)
I submitted these 2 photos to PPG. I wasn't sure about the first but was confident that the second would be accepted because, to me, it looked a more unusual shot. It has therefore come as a surprise that the latter has been rejected but the first accepted.
I am sure some of you would have voted on these photos and would appreciate the thought processes involved?
Regards.

Thanks for your advice guys. I'll try and get to the places you have mentioned but don' t know how much time I'll have. regarding Coors or other breweries, I don't drink any more so that will be off the agenda. I'll have to make do with water only :)
As for Joe Penn's advice re the Broncos, I think they are like my beloved football (soccer to you Yanks :)) team - Liverpool, who haven't won the league title since 1990. A quick Google search showed me that they haven't won the Superbowl since 1998 (second of only 2). My team has been much more successfel in the past and have a record 18 league championships although that other team called Manchester United are poised to break that record this coming weekend

Hi all,
I am travelling to Denver in a couple of days for a conference - Colorado Convention Centre. Can anyone suggest any places I can visit with photography in mind?
I will have access to a car.
Cheers.

Hi all,
You will have noticed that I am the OP of this thread and thought I'll give an update.
For what it is worth, I rang Pentax UK/Europe on Friday. They say the people at Pentax Japan are still working on it and the matter is still alive. I did mention that Pentax should at least acknowledge that they are working on the problem - he, of course, didn't have anything to say back.
Regards.

I acquired this fabulous lens during the winter (bought from a forum member) and this was the first time I used it in anger (so to speak :)). This is the first time I have ever taken macro shots.
The first shot has been accepted in PPG, while the second is awaiting review. I hope you like them.
Cheers.

Hi Conrad,
As Efkelly has said, this issue has been discussed in a number of threads, including one that I started. The best solutions is to reduce the flash exposure by 1 to 1.5 stops - I have found that gives fairly good results. That said, the results with high ISO are so good that I use my flash very infrequently.

Hi,
I own the Sigma and was quite happy with it until I compared it with my Lester A Dine 105 mm lens, which was way sharper. I have now bought the DA* 50-135 and will take delivery next month when I go to USA. I will then be able to do a direct comparison. That said, I had owned the 50-135 for a week last year but sent it back because I had bought it second hand and was concerned about the SDM issues - it only had a 6 months warranty. The shots I took with it are fantastic and way better than the Sigma.
If you are interested in getting it, I will be happy to oblige next month.
Regards.

Thanks for your input chaps.
I haven't mentioned but I do have a variety of lenses which cover a variety of focal lengths. I take a lot of shots with the awesome DA 12-24mm. I also have a true macro in the form of Lester A Dine 105 mm. In addition I am about to acquire the DA* 50-135 - it's waiting for me in the USA and will collect it when I go there next month :) (I will then sell the Sigma 50-150). Oh, and I also have the incredible FA 31 Limited.
So it is not really a case of needing a lens but the old disease, also known as LBA! The question that I have is whether the 16-50 will give me an added advantage.
Cheers.

Hi guys. I wonder if I can pick your brains?
I am in a quandary (entirely of my own making I may add). I already own a Sigma DC 18-50 Ex Macro and am quite happy with the results but am wondering if getting the DA* 16-50 would be a better option.
Simple question: What do you think?
Thanks in advance.

Actually I had bought the camera well over a month before - nearer the 2 months mark. The one week turn around time was because they were waiting for stock from Pentax. The date of manufacture is 23 December 2010.

I don't want you to feel jealous guys but let me tell you about my experience here in the UK. I had bought the camera from a retailer called SRS Microsystems (mail order). When I found out about the stains I confirmed it on my camera and rang them the next day. Below is what we talked (or to that effect):
Me: Hi. The K5 that I bought from you has stains on the sensor.
SRS: (after confirming my name) OK - I will arrange a courier to collect the camera tomorrow and then send a replacement.
Me: How long is the turn around?
SRS: About 1 week.
Guess what - happened exactly as written above :D
Regards.

Thank you all very much for your responses. As we all know, photography is a dynamic art and we all strive to improve. I have had a few of my photographs accepted in PPG and I just wanted to know what you people felt were the reasons for this rejection.
As someone has said above, the scene was very pretty when I was there and looking at it with my eyes but unfortunately it is not reflected in the shot.
Regards.
