I was thinking the exact same thing about the dust. :)
Great luck that you could get so close with a macro lens!

Thanks for posting these photos! I went on a road trip up through BC, Yukon and Alaska for the entire month of August 20 years ago. I remember a day spent in Hyder. It was likely almost exactly 20 years ago to the day! :) These shots brought back some memories. I'll have to see if I can find some old 4x6 photos taken with disposable point and shoot cameras from that trip...

I think the WR lenses, because of the strong suction force when zooming, pull in more dust than non WR lenses.
I have a DA 16-45 that has traveled with me all around the world over the past 11 years. It has gotten quite dirty, even wet, bumped around, the hood is broken, etc. What I'm saying is it's really been a major workhorse for me and taken probably 20,000 photos yet I don't notice any major dust inside. It is much more "flimsy" than the DFA 28-105 but it doesn't suck in air like a vacuum cleaner whenever you zoom so internally it has held up well.
I've used the DA 16-45 in the rain too. I kind of wonder whether it's actually better than the WR lenses because if you get some raindrops on the extended barrel and zoom in or out, it's not going to siphon the water into a sealed interior. I would just wipe it off before putting it away and it was always fine. After seeing a HUGE almost grain-of-sand sized spec of dust end up inside my DFA 28-105 within a month of light use it doesn't give me a lot of confidence that the weather seals are anything other than gimmicks. I feel like once something gets sucked in there; dust, water, moist air, etc; it's never getting out again where as the DA 16-45 could probably "breathe" a little bit and thus dry out if it did get moist air inside.

Same thing happened to me with the DFA 28-105...!?! Had it for about a month, barely used it and certainly not in bad conditions, and it's past the point where I could return it... giant speck right in the middle of the second element. Doesn't affect image quality but probably affects resale value... would they clean it under warranty? Is it worth it to get it cleaned?

I bought a replacement 540 FGZ hot shoe mount direct from Pentax Canada and installed it myself, it was really easy. Cost about $75CDN shipped.

I'd love one, If it was 25-35% of the cost of a 15-30/2.8. I'd love to get wider than 24-70 or 24-105 with a small prime that I could carry anywhere. 15-30 would be out of the question based on size and price.

I agree, the second one is better. The light in the first one is distracting and washes out the colors too. I wonder what the second one would look like with the chair in focus instead... but I still like it as is!

The colors in the first shot draw me in and won't let me go. I can't look away! Such an amazing image!
The black and white version takes away the distraction (not really, but for lack of a better word...) of the colors and really makes you focus on the beauty of the bride.
I love how the smoke is just hanging there, it makes the photo so 3D.
The 77mm sure is a magical lens!

Considering the size of the FA* 24/2, I would think a DFA 20 or 24 at f2.8 or f4 could be the same size or smaller than the FA 31 Ltd. This is something I would carry with me. At this stage they probably aren't accepting input on the matter, but I'm just saying size matters to some people and just because it's full frame doesn't mean it has to be or should be big. Look at the FA 43 or 77 Ltd, they are small and fast and wonderful FF lenses!

I moved from the K20D.
I have a toddler and basically stopped using my K20D because the AF was so slow and inaccurate, and low light performance so poor, that I could never get a half decent shot. Now 95% of my shots are keepers and most of them mind blowingly amazing!
I did not find it difficult to adjust to the different ergonomics/button layout (although no physical SR switch did lead me to turn it off and forget it was off a few times).
I kind of wish the K-1 had a built in pop up flash, but I don't really need it honestly, it's more of a safety net.
I don't miss the crop factor for telephoto because I can crop a 36mp image down to 10mp and it'll still look better than the K20D did at a full 15mp.
Faster AF + low noise + higher dynamic range made this a no brainer upgrade for me. If the K-1 didn't exist, would I be happy with a K-3II? Probably... but all my primes are already FF and overall I've been very happy with the decision to upgrade to a K-1. I used to cringe if I had to shoot higher than ISO 400 on the K20D but now I don't even notice the ISO setting on the K-1 unless it's over 3200.

I'd love to see a 20mm or 24mm weather sealed prime around the same size (or smaller) than the 31mm Ltd. I don't really care whether it's f2 or f2.8 or f4. I can only carry so many lenses with me after all, so size does matter! :)
If the new UWA prime is bigger/heavier than the three amigos combined then I'd never carry it, therefore I'd never buy it... but if I could carry the three amigos + a small UWA then I'd be very happy with my bag o' primes.

Thanks everyone! I should mention I processed these in Lightroom and other than exposure adjustments I only did slight saturation tweaks in the form of -2 saturation +5 vibrance give or take, and I used the "Camera - Natural" profile.
