I like the FA77 with it's 1.8, but there was a tad more issues with lens flare.
I kind of like my 50 1.8 and the way it makes my scruff o mutt look Attachment 256572 |

I see that on Amazon too and comment that the reviewer should review the seller (not always Amazon) and not the product. I remember one reviewer that bought and mini hand pump that is designed to be used on if you get a flat to get you home. Well, he gave pump a 1 star because it would not inflate his tubeless mtb tire. Talk about clueless. I'm sure he just did not want to spring for a real floor pump and hoped the $15 mini pump would work.
I wonder if I should review Lightroom and give it one star. It has a sharpening function. Well, I have plenty of action shots that are out of focus. It does not sharpen them to the tack sharp look i get when I can nail the focus. I guess Lightroom really sucks..................................................................................................sarcasm.

Yes
You will also be able to crop better. JPEG tosses out thing and makes assumption. With processing RAW to JPEG, you get to choose what you want to keep.
There was a site that had a comparison of the same photo with Raw and JPEG. I will see if I can find it. He showed how he was able to recover detail lost in the in camera JPEG. He had to do some PP to bring the detail out of the shadows.

Did someone blast her on Twitter yet to point out her "oversights"
I wonder what cameras she has around her neck in her profile (macworld) pic. They are probably just something to hold her IPhone.

Don't need this type of lens anymore. My drone will get me close enough. I just have to figure out how to keep the hawks from attacking it. Maybe I could dress the drone up as a pig???

It does shoot soft up until 2.0.
The DA 50 1.8????
I have that and I like it better. It's not as robust, but 1/2 the price. I shoots sharp at 1.8 and gets dead on at 2.8. I had to take the FA 50 1.4 to 3.2 before I felt it was sharp

Using auto iso is a problem when you need everything to stay the same. I shoot a lot of my daughter's indoor volleyball. With contrasting uniforms, white balls, varied backgrounds, the exposure gets fooled.
So, I set everything to manual and go. With limited indoor lighting, I do have to tweak things. I too use the selectable focus points as it's better to focus on the lower part of the body than the face.
I just hit the info button, turn a wheel to 5 point, select ok, make the iso tweak, then switch back. It's kind of a pain, but does work getting the exposure dialed.

If it helps,
I have rented 3 of their lenses. The ones I got looked new. No dust anywhere and very clean cosmetically. All of the lenses worked perfectly.
I'm not so sure of "the great price".
I saw an FA 77 1.8 at BH used for $599 with a 9 rating.
A suggestion might be to rent what you are looking for, then ask for that same one on purchase. I have found BL to be helpful and flexible on my rentals.

So, to expand this, these two lenses would also take nearly the same picture on a K-50? (ignoring the 70 to 77 difference) Attachment 237041 |

I think that makes sense then. The DA makes the image smaller to fit on the sensor.
I guess I will have to read up on this a bit more.

I meant in practical terms of what gets put on the sensor. Since the sensor is smaller area than film, does it have a "telephoto" type effect?

Since one is for 35mm film (the FA), would I have a 75 mm aps-c equivalent using the FA 50?

I have the 50 1.8 and love it.
Oh, get a screw on lens hood in 52 mm. I could not find a pedal type that would work
I know it's not WR, but for the price and pic quality, it's a compromise I'm willing to make

I'm a big fan of renting lenses for specific occasions for us amateurs. We want good results, but cannot justify the expense of a $1200 lens even if we can afford it.

I would not care if my camera said "Junk Inc" on it. If it takes great pictures, who cares?
