Priced to sell!!! Pentax K-5 Camera Body + remote + extra battery Asking Price
245.00 USD Item Location
Colstrip, MT (United States) Item Description
Up for sale is my trusty Pentax K-5 camera body. Having sold all my Pentax lenses off, I figured there's really no reason to keep the camera. I bought it brand new shortly after the K-5 was announced, I think that was early spring 2011. It's always performed flawlessly. The toughness of this camera is super impressive - the only mark on it is a few little scratches on the IR receiver plastic (can be seen in third photo below), otherwise, it's in the same condition it was when I first bought it. I always took good care of it, drying it off as soon as possible after getting wet from the rain, etc. I mostly only ran WR lenses, so there shouldn't be much, if any, dust inside. It didn't have any of those problems some users reported, like stained sensor or the lens release button falling off. It's never been dropped, damaged, or repaired for that matter.
Just checked the shutter count, it's at 19,702. There's lots of life left to how many more photos this camera is good for.
Includes:
Camera Body
Box
Paperwork
Body Cap
Strap
Eye piece
AV cord
USB Cable
OEM Battery
Charger
I'm also including:
Pentax Wireless Remote F
Third party Battery (Lasts as long as original, if not longer)

Pentax DA* 300mm f/4 excellent condition Asking Price SOLD Item Location
Colstrip, MT (United States) Item Description
Looking to pick up a Pentax DA* 300mm f/4 to add to your bag? Here's one that is in excellent condition!
Aesthetics: 9.5/10 - Lens body is in flawless condition. No scratches, dings, etc. There is only very small wear on the tripod mount arm, as can be seen in the photos.
Optics: 10/10 - Glass is pristine. Always has had a filter on it. Focuses fast and accurately. Produces sharp images.
Internal dust: 9.5/10 - Minimal to none. Lens is always stored with both caps in dry location.
I am the second owner of this lens and have had it for three years. It shoots awesome photos, is a breeze to handle, and was one of my favorite Pentax lenses. It's lighter/smaller than a 70-200 and is weatherproof which makes it a really sturdy performer. The AF has always worked great for me, I've even used the lens to photograph sports (soccer and baseball), and it worked great! It's gotten used for portraits, landscape, you name it.
Really sad to see it go, I jumped ship to Nikon (I know, I know :o), so I'm trying to sell off my remaining Pentax collection.
Included items: Lens, hood, front cap, rear cap, soft pouch, box, serial number card, manual.
PM me if you have any questions or would like more pictures, or want to work a deal! I generally ship USPS priority mail, so I can get it to you fast. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

If it were me, I would take the DA 15, DA 40, and the 55-300mm. Most of my shots would likely end up being taken with the DA 15 - that was one of my favorite lenses of all time, so small and yet so awesome.

I have the latest version of Aperture on my mac, and I noticed that when I import my K-5 raw files, Aperture is changing the coloring and exposure of the image. It bleaches it out from what it should be (what showed on the camera screen). I am pretty sure I used to not have this problem, but it's been a while since I had last uploaded any images from my K-5 until recently. However, in between I did update Aperture from 2.x to 3.x, so that may be the reason.
Is there anyone else having this same issue? If so, is there a fix?
It reminds me of back right after the K-5 was released and there were some issues with Aperture's raw engine on the K-5 files, which was subsequently fixed in an update to Aperture.

I will own this lens... If it's anything like my Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4 :D ---------- Post added 05-15-2014 at 04:51 PM ---------- Seriously, the quality (at least of my 35mm) is stellar. I've taken it through rain storms and all kinds of abuse and it just keeps delivering the goods. Sure, it's a heavy beast, but I guess I'm willing to endure that for the quality. I've had my fair share of non-art Sigma lenses, and even the best of them don't come close to the quality, both physical and IQ, of the 35mm art lens... The consistency of what it delivers beats any Pentax lens I've ever owned, though I have had Pentax lenses that best it in terms of occasional output.
If this latest 50mm release is the same... It's worth the weight, and size, and price.
But that's just my opinion.

Being in/near Houston, there might be the possibility of finding someone local to you looking to sell and you could maybe meet and try the lens out for yourself. If so, that would surely be the best way to make sure you are satisfied with the performance of the lens.

Pentax D-BG4 Camera Grip for K-7 / K5 / K-5 IIs *MINT* Asking Price SOLD Item Location
Colstrip, MT (United States) Item Description
Up for grabs is an original Pentax D-BG4 grip. I know it fits the K-7 and the K-5, though I believe it also fits the K-5 II and K-5 IIs. I have used it on my K-5 for the past 4 years, and it has been a solid performer. As a testament to its toughness, it still looks nearly brand new and functions perfectly! I have used it with both the camera battery insert and the AA battery insert. I noticed it was a bit heavier when using the AA insert. I can testify that the weather sealing is awesome on this unit - I have been in many rain storms and never has it let me down.
This grip was originally owned by another Pentax user who bought it new from Amazon. After a couple weeks, he decided he didn't need it, so I bought it from him and have had it ever since. I always take good care of my photography equipment, and this grip was no exception. In the past two years it has mostly stayed in one of my extra bags on my K-5 and seen very little use since I migrated over to the Nikon FF platform. I've been needing to sell off my Pentax collection so that others can get better use out of some of the awesome lenses I've got - I've just been too busy. :hmm: Anyway, you should see my K-5 and lens collection coming up for dibs as well.
Condition: 9.9/10 - It is used, but upon examination, there are no scratches, dings, or marks of any kind that I can see.
Performance: 10/10 - I have never had any issues with it. All the pins and battery contact points are flawless.
Included: original box, paperwork, grip, both battery trays

Well, yes and no. Full frame is overrated in the minds of those who lustfully long after it but don't have it. However, to those of us who have it and use it, it's not overrated in our minds at all since we know first hand what FF does and does not do for us.
FF is not a magic pill that will suddenly turn one's pictures "pro." However, don't let that discourage you—if FF is the tool that you need, then go for it.
Obviously, I have FF and I'm pretty much hooked on it.
EDIT: I think I maybe made things more confusing with this post...

I've heard all four at different points in time... And even then, a thousand variations of each. I use to get caught up in the whole "gimme full frame" thing, but since I now have one I've settled down. I've realized that a camera is just a tool and the actual need for FF takes on a much different face once a person has one (in other words, I use to think I wanted FF for shallow DOF, better high ISO, etc., but now it's for a whole different set of reasons).
Don't get me wrong though, I'd still love to see a small, minimalist Pentax FF DSLR with a whopper OVF in a body similar to some of the old film cameras... Maybe even forego AF, and I'd just run a 50mm on it, and I bet nobody could pry that thing from around my neck! ;)
