With DA 18-135. Was actually having a weekend beach trip with the family. Apparently the beachfront faced West :)

Went to shoot something festive, in contrast to the year that was. Taken with a DA 35 F2.4.

I haven't had much opportunity to shoot much last year, due to the pandemic. Not much opportunity for a part-time hobbyist :D. I opt for shooting outdoors or events, which was limited.
But I do have to click the shutter once in a while :).

Reminds of the interview at Imaging Resource (if my memory serves me correctly) and how 'joy in photography' is mentioned more than once.
He maybe is on to something here 😊

Well, that too :D
@JMcGill the green mode do disables a lot of controls, and is useful mostly for beginners. You can review the settings (exposure, image modes, etc) the camera used for a photo, and experiment by changing settings for the same photo.
It may be a good starting point or baseline for you, or you at least you'll know what settings to avoid when you shoot :D.

Not sure if you read this from this site: Pentax KP Review - Recommended Settings | PentaxForums.com Reviews
I don't know if you are new to Pentax in general, Pentax KP only, or photography in general. In any case the video below might be of help. It's not comprehensive, and it's not KP, but Pentax body functions are basically the same. You Tube |

When I was new to photography and Pentax, I stuck in green mode for a while. Hence the name :D

Thank you for the complement. We are in a wide field with different interests, held together by a common medium.
I myself don't see me in a studio environment. Not that I have anything against it, but I'd rather go outside to shoot :).
Thanks again! ---------- Post added 05-10-19 at 07:41 PM ----------
Thank you, and nice photo.
This is now my 5th Pentax body. My only regret so far is the tungsten AF issue with the Kr.
Oh yes, I sometimes look back at my *st DS pics and miss the CCD :D.

Thank you :).
I do use Natural image setting with Fine Sharpening up a notch for my other bodies. I keep reading about how better the KP JPEG is, but I haven't spent time yet with this body to 'fine tune' to my liking.
I gotta get out and shoot :D

Thanks for the reply DeKay. Very nice photos :-).
Like I originally mentioned, I own a K3, and yet I still got the KP. I guess it's finding the right mix of features that work for you, for the right price.

I just got a KP body on a recent trip from Japan. Got it for about USD775.00. Tax-free, plus 5% discount for credit card payments.
For the past two years I've read about how it got the short end of both high and low end Pentax APSC bodies. But for the price I got it for, for my needs, I'd say it got the best of both.
I have a K-3 and a K-30, so not having the top LCD nor the bigger battery is nothing new to me. Neither having only one card slot is an issue for me. I'm not a pro, and also I haven't had a card failure since I've been a DSLR user (a Pentax *DS), back in 2007.
Taken with an 18-135. SOOC JPEG.

SOOC JPEG using a DA 18-135.
I don't have much experience with other brands, with the 'general knowledge' that Pentax JPEGs are inferior, how does this fair?
No need for a long discussion about JPEG engines, I guess we've got information overload on that :). Just a simple reply would do. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the info.
So you can only choose one mode of sharpening and, the level for that. You cannot set an individual level simultaneously for each mode of sharpening.
I always had in my mind that you can, like an graphic equalizer. But then again as I wrote, I'm more of a RAW shooter an very seldom look into the JPEG settings :D.

Thanks! I only tried updating JPEG settings recently, after the update to be exact. I'm primarily a RAW shooter :).
But the setting works as expected in my K-30. Surprising that this 'bug' is already 2 versions old.

I have updated to 1.30. When I customize the JPEG settings, the settings for Sharpness, Fine, and Extra cannot be set individually.
When I select one of the sharpness settings and adjust, the adjustment is also applied to the other two settings. At least that is what is displayed.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I know right? Like car companies can't make their own tires! The horror!
Seriously Pentax has been rebranding lenses for quite some time.
This strategy saves any company resources (time and money) getting a product out.
If the end result is worth it, why not?

Thanks for the replies :).
I guess the current focus mechanism isn't designed for this, where the camera only turns the focus ring until the AF module says stop.
But the 'old' lenses have distance scales, maybe something can be determined electronically for each AF lens, and the camera just needs to know how much turning it has to do for a given set of parameters.
