Hi all, hope someone can help me here, I have recently purchased a Tamron 18-250 lens second hand, but it came without a lens hood, I have ordered one from Jessops in the UK but after 3 whole months they are still waiting for delivery of this item, so my question is, is there any where else i could get hold of a lens hood for this lens, I don't want a screw on type just the bayonet type, I live in the UK but I do not mind having to purchase from aboard, hope someone out there can help me.

Just wondering, how would they be able to know if the sensor had been touched, as long as no scractches or such good be seen?

Thanks for the advice, the shot was taken hand held, next time I will use a tripod with the settings you recommended.

Just been browsing this forum and saw a photo of the moon taking with the DAL 55-300, here's mine taking with my 55-300, cropped of course and a little PP, what do you think? I'm surprised on how this lens can capture a image like this. |

I've have already been there, but I don't want to have to purchase a new screen just to obtain the tweezers they supply. Also from they instructions it appears to me that you have to pull the clasp to release the screen, and yet I've read else where that you push down on the clasp to release the screen, so which way is the correct one?

Hopefully I'm posting in the right forum.
My question is this, what is the correct procedure for removing the Focusing Screen on my Pentax K-x? On what part of the latch do I clasp, and in which direction do I pull or push this latch to release the Screen? And with what tools do you use, I know people have use tweezers, which type do I need or is there another tool which is better suited for this operation.
Thanks if you can help.

Thanks for the info, 2 more things, the only petal shaped hoods I have found appear to be screw mounted, will I still be able to attach a screw-on filter or my lens cap with the hood still attached?
And I know that this lens is basically the same as the pentax 18-250mm so would a Pentax bayonet fitting fit?
And if so where would one purchase one of these hoods.
Thanks

I have just purchased a second hand Tamron 18-250mm lens, unfortunately it came without a lens hood. Now since I don't like taking photo's without a lens hood, can any one recommend a decent lens hood for this lens. I have read that the one that normally comes with this lens is a petal shaped hood, but this can some times will cast a shadow onto the lens. I have considered a 3 stage rubber lens hood, has anyone had any experience with this type of hood and basically are they any good? Or which lens hood would you recommend?

I'm Loving the Raynox 150, sorry but I know it's not a dedeicated macro lens, but it sure does give some surprising results. |

For a cheap but very affective alternative to a macro lens, have you considered the Raynox 150?
I have been using this myself with the kit lens, and have been very pleased with the results.
As for a flash gun, I have been using a Metz48, which I have found to be very powerful and versatile flash unit.

I've too just recently just invested in this kit lenses set up, I myself started looking for more lenses, but by trail & error have decided for the time being to stick with these two lenses, for I have found these two lenses to be a fantastic start.
Both lenses if used with the correct settings produce some amazing photo's from this so called entry level camera. Why they call this an entry level camera is behind me, it is a superb camera, well capable in competing with many higher level camera's.

On the question of image quality, which would you say produces the best quality of image?
The K-x on DxOMark has slightly better marks than the K20D, that's if I have read the information correctly. :)

In the UK, prices from Amazon with 18-55mm Kit lens.
K20D £700 ($1011)
K-x £460 ($664)
That's $347 difference, I know that the K20D is an older model, but what is the point in comparing a much higher priced camara to a much lower priced model?
Wouldn't it be better to compare the K20D to the K7?

It has been mentioned that this lens is a Pentax K mount, has anyone had any experience of one with an M42 mount, or would that not make a lot of difference?
