K5 and Metz 58 non consistant exposure in slave mode

I did more testing with the k20d. some different lens and camera combo. and the Metz on slave mode. And on camera.

I did the same testing with the da 35, the sigma 70-200, the tamron 28-75, and a pentax A 70-210. on the k5 and k20.

The problem was only visible with the sigma 70-200 f2.8 and k5 combo in slave mode showing unconsistent exposure.

All other lens and camera combo work fine.

I put fresh bat and clean the contac but this was not convincing. The k5 just dont like the sigma. I have no clue since the sigma just work fine on the k20.

The pentax A 70-210 f4 and k5 is a great combo with the metz.

Have fun.

K5 and Metz 58 non consistant exposure in slave mode

Hello.
Im strugling with my Metz 58 AF2 in slave mode trying to figure out what is going wrong.
For no apparent reason it produce very under exposed shots 2 or 3 in a row and 6 or 7 well exposed shots.
I did try many different setting betwen auto and manual setting. mouved things around, removed and covered all reflective things in the studio and still getting under exposed shots for no visible reason.

The k5 is set on control mode and W.
The metz and k5 are on tripods 2 feets appart, the metz is in front on the camera one feet to the right. and the target is 6 feets in front of the camera.
both are firmware updated to v 1.13 and v 3 for the metz.

Do you have a clue?

have a nice day.

I looked to upgrade from my trusty k100d,
I did try some C and N brand... I find them to be very good and fast, I was stunned by some of them.
I also find them to be not so well build very complicated to use and expensive.

I love my k20... its well priced trong build fun to handle and easy to use.

IQ is amazing.

Auto EV compentation in k20d question.

Thanks for your fast reply.
So If I previously set my EV to +2, and a proper exposure can not be done for the next shot (say there is no hight ligh background the subject for the next shot) the camera will overide the EV compensation from what I did... Or will it overide all compesation I do whenever the correct exposure.

Hello
I im trying the freeware of nosewaire.
It do a great job at eliminating noise without lost of details.
But The filtered picture from noisewaire show lost of contrast and colors.
Is this normal. Also it only work in jpeg. I would like a noise filter program in raw.

Poll: Weather sealing (with poll)

I took my unsealed k100d in rainy day more than one time with no problem.
It get wet a lots of time but I manage to cover it when not in use. ( I get wet too)
On time I forgot it outside under the rain it come in with pudle of water under the acl screen.
I just remouved the lens, battery, and SD card and alowed it to dry on a hot oven. it work like a new....
If the unsealed k100d can take this much abuse I dont see why you can get into trouble whit the k10 k20 or k200d.

Hello
I got my K20D last week. Upgrading from a k100D.
All I have to say is Wow!!!! I love it.
I was in the custom setting and pLayed whit the auto EV compensation. I see no difference between my shot... I dont understand the purpose of this setting, even after reading the operating manual I find no explanation on how it work (page 73)....

may some one lighten me.
