The JC Penney 1:3.5f=80-200mm lens is the one that I probably use the least. The pictures seem to come out a bit hazy and grainy and don't have the clarity of the other lenses. Like privateryan said, it produces some odd shots. |

I guess I'm not really sure what I need/want. I'm just an amateur photographer and starting out. I have a DSLR (Nikon D60) but I really enjoy film so I'd like to put together a relatively good (and cheap?) set of lenses for the ME Super. Most of my shooting is done outdoors. What would you recommend I get to replace the JC Penney 1:3.5f=80-200mm lens? Since the 49mm and 50mm are prime lenses, what should I get as a good, all-around lens for general use?
What do the filters do? Where and when should I use them? They're both just standard UV protection, correct?

I have an ME Super that my father-in-law gave me a couple Christmases ago but I've never done serious research into what the lenses that came with the camera can do. I did some searching on this site to try and find out more but, other than a couple lenses, haven't found out too much information. Would y'all mind letting me know what have I got and how best to use it? Thanks!

I tried replacing the battery and the mirror is still stuck. I found a couple posts on the Interwebz saying I should try tripping the shutter/mirror with a cable release which I'm going to try when I get home from work tonight.
As far as the other camera which doesn't seem to be taking pictures correctly, I'm going to see what it does on 1/125 or Manual; maybe something is wonky with it (because it appears as though the shutter and mirror are working as expected although the film doesn't seem to get exposed correctly).

I'm just an amateur photographer who received an ME Super from my father-in-law about 2 years ago. Although I have a Nikon D60, I really enjoy taking pictures with the ME Super and playing around with all of the different capabilities of both the camera and film combinations.
Unfortunately, the camera has developed a problem in that, out of a 24-exposure roll of film, I'm lucky to get 1 or 2 pictures. I sent the camera in for repair (to Precision Camera) and they said the problem could not be repaired due to the fact that the part needed was no longer available. So, I picked up another (ME Super) camera from eBay but it's mirror is stuck in the Up position. I don't want to leave film behind so I'm hoping to learn more about my camera(s) and get back to shooting pictures, rather than monkeying around with wonky shutters, mirrors, and other problems.
