Supposed world marketshare of digital cameras in 2019 stats

Pentax is absolutely a non-player as their sales probably barely register. I'm surprised by Nikon though. I always thought they were doing well as they seem to have compelling products.

If it nails the weaving approaching bicycle test maybe DPR will award it a silver.

I also have that lense and like it quite a bit. But it isn't cheap.

I have the Tamron 17-50 2.8 and love it for its sharpness. Images colours are a little cool.

Bienvenue! I also have a K-3 which I find to be excellent. It looks like you've traveled. I look forward to seeing your photos.

I really like my K-3 for its robust build and solid features, especially the weather sealing. It just feels so good in the hand and most controls are where they should be. I will quite probably pick up the K-new when it comes out, but pretty sure I'll keep the K-3 as a secondary or backup camera.

That Tamron is a sharp lens, even wide open. I haven't used mine in years but your pic is prompting me to pull it out of the bag. Congrats on your daughter's grad.

Welcome. The K-x was what got me into Pentax as well. I really appreciated the excellent high ISO capabilities.

Pentax K-3 II successor on September 2020

Pretty sure I'll be upgrading when the K-new (K300?) comes out. I can't see myself parting with my K-3 though. It is just too solid a camera. Plus I can use it as backup if needed. Now, my K-x, that will probably end up on the used market. Side note on the K-x: It was absolutely amazing what you could get from high ISO pics at the time. Loved that camera.

Action Planespotting

In all cases good panning skills are needed. If you want to blur the propellers of prop planes then a long enough shutter speed is needed, usually around 1/125. For jets it is less important unless you want to blur the background too to show movement.
My panning skills are only so-so. My BIF setup is 1/1250 shutter speed which I also used recently for taking pics of jets. As I get better at panning I will choose a longer shutter speed. This pic was taken with my BIF setting.

I bought a BluRay disc the other day for 5.99 and the cashier asked if I wanted extended warranty. I laughed. She said she had to ask.

Pretty sure it's a setting when you choose shutter speed, aperture and ISO yourself. Can't be anything else AFAIK

I'm more on the technical side. I've never really had an eye for art. Maybe that's why I like doing BIF. It's a technical challenge.

Just took the same pic twice, once with the PLM and once with the old 55-300. Same distortion. Guess I never noticed it before. Thanks for all the replies.

Why do you want to replace the Sigma 10-20? I recently bought that lens and enjoy it so far.

If I HAD to choose it would be
55-300 PLM for BIF etc
18-135 for walkaround
Sigma 10-20 3.5

But I would definitely miss my Sigma 50-150 2.8

Quite frankly the D500 AF is the standard I will use to compare with K-new. My Dad gave me his whole Nikon system so I am waiting to see what Pentax will bring to the table. If they are close or at par I'll be all in. If not I may seriously go two systems as I already have Nikkor lenses. But honestly, I am really really really hoping Pentax pulls this off. I just don't like the UI of Nikon compared to Pentax. Everything on my K-3 seems so well placed and thought out.
