Thank you! As a matter of fact, there are several ancient lilacs near that window, but all the blossoms are so high up that the scent is better appreciated in our second-story windows. This spring a robin built a nest in the lilac right outside this window, so a lot of time was spent "bird watching" in this spot until the babies were able to take off.

Thank you! I checked into conversion to screw drive, but learned it's not possible to convert it. Sending it to Precision Camera for repair of the SDM is around $350, which is not feasible for me to do at this time. I tried all the tricks to "wake it up," but nothing has worked. Bought it new and it started squeaking shortly after that. Wish I had known at the time that was one of the warning signs of impending failure.

Living in Iowa, we have relatively few days when it's possible to enjoy having the windows wide open, so I especially treasure these kinds of mornings with a gentle breeze. Since the SDM has now failed in my lovely DA* 55mm lens, I'm limited to manual focus, which is definitely a challenge for me due to my poor eyesight, even with focus peaking.
