@ minahasa
Thankyou so much, so looks like I have too dismantle to see what I can too myself.
I called Sigma and was told the same thing "very old" lens might not able to repair. So just switch my Camera A55 to manual and use it as a manual lens is the way to go.
Thanks again for your feedback.

Hi .....
My name is Peter Rom from Singapore, I was given this "Sigma 28-200mm ASPHERICAL IF" to me from a friend. He bought it some 15 years ago.
When I mount it onto my Sony Alpha a55, this lens ONLY work as a manual lens ( I need to switch off the Auto focus on my camera body) before I can use it, it's working perfectly from 28-200mm BUT the moment I turn on the auto focus on my camera body, it makes lot of noise ( cracking mechanically sound) like the camera is going to break and it will not work.
I do not really knows what's happening, is the lens not an Auto focus for Sony or I have to send it to the Sigma work shop to do some kind of electronics modification? before it can be use on A55 Sony?
Please enlighten me or if you have this similiar issue what have you done?
Will it be very expensive to it it service ?
It is worth doing or buy another that work with AF on Sony camera body?
Thankyou so much and hope to have some return reply as soon as possible and it will be really appreciated.
Thanks again
Peter

Dear all,
I am new to this new community, I am in my late 50s', I picked up photographly in the early 80s' where I use to own an Oymplus OM2 flim camera but drop after 2 year due to my busy work schedule where I work in the USA 'Mountain View Cal"
A few year back which I came to Singapore and picked up my hobby again and started of with Canon and now a proud user of PENTAX K-x with a Kit lens, Sigma 70-300mm APO and 500mm Lens.
It's a different ball game between a Flim & Digital whereby saving lots of processing cost with just a single software.
Hope I can learn more from fellow here.
Cheers!!!!!

Hi,
It came along with 2 shims and the focusing screen, I took about 10 mins to select one shims and place the focusing Kx-K3 and lock it back which is not too difficult.
During installation, when placing the shims, you should look at the view finder to ensure that it is in position before placing the FS, the first time I did not check and just place the FS and lock back, look throu the view finder and saw the shims was not properly sitting in position, unlock and adjusted it and after all this, I am very please with this Kx-K3 focusing screen.
It has solve my focusing problems cos I do not have very sharp eye.
Hope this info will help you too.
