I hope I'm not too late to put in Bill Brandt, both his nudes and his reportage.
And I still think that Don McCullin is one of the best living photographers.

Thank you all,
very helpful replies.
I was thinking of using the kit lenses, both WR, so that therefore would not be a problem for me.
Further question - would using a (low pressure) hose be an acceptable way of washing, or
would that be too strong?

Back after a long time

Hi all,
After a long time not taking any pictures, then having a compact digital for a few years, being totally frustrated with the lack of immediate control over what I'm trying to take - pressing the shutter and waiting for the camera to play with itself, and waiting, and waiting, and then finally when the shutter releases everything has changed completely, It seem like the sun could have gone down while I waited.
Talk about 'the decisive moment' ! !
Now I have come to a decisive moment and invested in a K-7 (with the kit lenses) and hope I'll be able to pick up where I left off with my Spotmatic more than 25 years ago.

One of the things I really enjoyed about studying photography all those years ago was the processing and manipulating after taking the photo, which I've been unable to do without a darkroom in the days of film. With digital it's possible again, and even easier than before.

All I need to do is get out and look, and record.

Favourite photographers: Everyone, but especially Henri Cartier- Bresson, Bill Brandt, Don McCullin.

Looking forward to an interesting forum.

Hi all,
I've just got my brand new K-7 after too many years away from serious stills photography.
One of the reason I got a K7 rather than the competition was its weatherproofing.
But I'll be going out sailing soon, and will be in salt water spray.
Two questions - should I trust that weatherproofing totally, (and if I do, what is the best way to clean the camera afterwards), OR should I get a decent proper waterproof housing, and if so what would anyone recommend?

Yours,

Splicer.
