I was a bit hot and bothered when I wrote that earlier, that and the fact I've been dropping hints for a new lens for my birthday but her indoors won't front that kind of cash. I think blaming the economy and exchange rates on these price increases is nonsense.

WTF are they thinking? I was really keen on getting the K7 but out of principle I'm seriously thinking about changing brands. What an utter piss take. I hope Sigma don't think they're missing a trick...

70-200mm hsm II

There are only a couple of TCs that will work with the II HSM version. One is Tamron and the other is Kenko but be careful with the Kenko, I bought the wrong one by mistake! Sigma are are still working on their compatible versions.. If you search you should find a few posts about this very topic.. I just got a replacement 70-200 HSM II yesterday, my first one had serious softness issues... wish I'd of got the Tamron to be honest.. :o

Sigma or Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8

That there seem to be some sharpness or focus issues with the Sigma. Mine has been in the shop for two weeks now, only used it for about a week after purchasing. You should also consider the fact that there are currently only a couple of TCs that will provide autofocus with the Sigma and they can be hard to find. If you can live without the HSM I'd get the Tamron, wish I did! Or maybe even the Pentax 200mm 2.8...

I paid £99 for mine about a month ago and I thought that was a good price! My local shop was quoting £150 odd, SRS put their price up after I got that one for £99.00. Pentax UK were quoting my local shop over £120 for one?? :hmm:

I hope you're right. Chances of my local shop having one for me to try is non existent though. It does look quite deep so maybe that will help out with the grip, I just hope the battery grip isn't an astronomical amount. The K10 grip leapt up in price by 70% recently.. was a real steal before then.

I really hope this thing isn't too small for me.. K10D with grip is a perfect fit for me but I'm a 6'6" neanderthal with spades for hands, looks a bit on the small side!:(

Is my Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO HSM II a bit soft?

Well I hope they acknowledge there is at least something wrong with it, the guys in the shop just scoffed at me when I said it was a bit 'soft'. After all how would a mere Pentax user know... When I asked if they knew anything about the new Pentax they look blank for a moment then said, what the K-M? Think I will be taking my LBA elsewhere in the future...

Thanks for the replies. Think I will be in the market for a 200mm 2.8 or 60-250 if my tests confirm my suspicions but I'll post pics and get some opinions first.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I did read about FF issues with this lens but I'm pretty certain this isn't the case, if anything there is a minute amount of BF. Thanks for the sample pics, I haven't done anything scientific yet (away with work :( ) but I am seriously starting to think I have a bogus one. I have to stop right down to get anything decent out of it. I'll do some mirror up, SR off tripod shots of a ruler outside or something and get some second opinions before I take it back. My local dealer though very helpful is somewhat sceptical about this sort of thing... :o

The focus is extremely quick, glad Sigma finally pulled their finger out on HSM for Pentax. Shame I have the old 10-20 but oh well. The build quality is top notch and the focus and zoom rings are particularly nice. I'll post some pictures when I get a minute.

I've had this lens for a couple of weeks now and although I'm generally pleased with it I can't help but thinking it's a bit soft wide open. I haven't done any mirror up tripod shots yet but plan to after the weekend. Has anyone else got any experience with this lens or any 2.8 pictures they can post so I can compare sharpness? just noticed my fat fingered thread title!

I'm sure this has been said before but why don't Pentax just start a 'classics' line and start cranking out the 300mm F2.8 again? I have noticed a certain on line retailer is listing the sigma 300 f2.8 in pentax fit, anyone got any experience with it?

thanks for the reply, I have the KENKO TELEPLUS DG 1.5X MC TELECONVERTER. I guess that one doesn't work, or it's faulty. Seems to have the full set of pins so I'm a bit confused. Guess I should look before I leap!

Good evening all. I might just be having a senior moment but for the life of me I can't get this lens to autofocus with the TC fitted. It shows the aperture in the display ok but makes no attempt what so ever to focus.. I'm hoping someone with the same combo can point me in the right direction!

I got mine about a fortnight ago and it's quite stiff too, I wouldn't fret about it...
