Wow. Has anyone ever described you as being "crotchety" before? Do you also run out and tell the neighborhood kids to get off your lawn?

I tend to neglect the highly capable 43. This one's at f/2.4.
Rapture?

Are you implying that the K-1 is such an incredible camera that you no longer have to try as hard to take good photos? That's obviously not true but even if it was, "good" photos and "creative" photos can be two entirely different things. If anything, a more capable camera should lead to increased creativity, IMO. It opens up new opportunities that you probably didn't have before.

Really? On an $1800 lens? Personally, I'd gladly pay $64 to have the hood designed specifically for such a pricey lens...

Well now that's an interesting point. If they did, in fact, order a pre-determined number of units. I guess it depends on if Tamron makes them in batches or runs or if it's a constant production item, in which case the ratio of Pentax branded ones can probably be adjusted on the fly and the contract may be open-ended.

Great example of deals that can be found right here on the PF marketplace. I just sold my used copy of the 50-135 to an established member for HALF that sale price, and it was indistinguishable from a new one. SDM has always worked perfectly. Buyer PM'ed me today and he's delighted.

Small series with a busy little bumble bee. All with K-3 and FA77 at f/2.8.

I agree, though I'm sure my opinion would be considered biased since I already have a black GR II, but I truly don't care for the looks of the silver one. One of my favorite things about this camera is that when you bring it out, it gets absolutely no attention. Everyone just assumes that it's some cheapo pocket camera and wonders why you don't just use your phone. It's like having a Toyota Camry with a Corvette V-8 under the hood. The ultimate "sleeper."

I can personally attest to it being a near-perfect travel camera, with the possible exception of night shots. With no SR and such a small and light form-factor, it can be tough to hold it still enough. If you can brace it against a post or something, it works much better, but still not as good as, say, a K-3. Alas, nothing is free , but I'll take this limitation in exchange for such an easy to travel with camera. And it's close to spectacular in daylight.

You don't have to worry about that. Pentax uses SD. Period. Even on the 645Z. Sensor origin is completely unrelated to card type. Plus, I can't imagine that they would put in only one card slot when the last two aps-c bodies have had two. (Original K-3 has two also)

We don't know that he doesn't know. He was a Pentax rep and apparently stated it pretty matter-of-factly, not as a guess.

The only reasons to use the 18-135 is either to save money or space in a travel bag or being in a position where you can't change lenses, or, as pointed out above, you need to save weight.
No matter what it's most ardent defenders say, (ahem), it is a kit lens. It's IQ and light-gathering abilities simply cannot compete with the better lenses. One need only look at samples posted right here on this site to confirm that. It amazes me sometimes what some people will hold up as "great results" from the 18-135 that are obviously less than stellar. Have I seen some good shots with it? Absolutely. Is that the Norm? No. There have been some excellent, even award-winning shots with the lowly 18-55, too, but you're unlikely to get reliably great shots from either.
Many will say that's where skill comes into it, and they are not entirely wrong, but if it was only about skill, then why do most pros spend so much on the very best lenses available? Because better lenses "get out of your way" and allow you to just focus on capturing the shot instead of having to work around the limitations of the lens. Doing that can be a fun diversion or exercise every once in a while, but it gets old if you have to do it all the time.
Having said that, the 18-135 certainly has it's place. If any of the those first four scenarios apply to you, then it may be a great choice.

Had my Sigma 24-70 out doing some AF tests today. It's the only lens I still have to set some compensation for. This was taken before I finally settled on a -5 adjustment and indeed, the focus point isn't exactly perfect, but I still kinda liked it. Bokeh is not quite as smooth as other lenses in my bag, but still not too bad.
