I was new to dslrs 2 months ago and got a k7. I think its a great camera and its been very easy to use, especially with the two manual dials for the thumb and the pointer finger. The biggest draws for me were how small it is compared to other dslrs and the fact that its designed to be tougher than most others in its price range. I don't think ive had an issue with auto focus yet either. But honestly, I can't say id be any less happy with another camera (which is probably the beginner dslr user talking). maybe im not fully utilizing it's features? but atleast it gives me room to grow

yeah, i don't think rpar is saying photography shouldn't be spontaneous or simple. infact i think it should be both. but either way, every photo you take, conciously or not, you'll be defining each of these variables, which is pretty amusing to think about.
good thing we don't have to record them as well :p

I feel your pain bumb. I was trying to shoot skaters with my new 28mm the other day and with the type of close ups you need in the sport the focus changes super quick.
I'm hoping manual focus is like driving manual and someday ill be bored with an automatic... hah
either way shooting a kickflip back tail would be great fun to watch, i hope you get it next time!

that an incredibly cool way to think about it. i love to see things broken down like that, so to me its almost like a visual cutaway of abstractness or something that can't be visually cutaway. er something like that.
well, i tried drawing the spacial bit out but x y and the feild of view seem to overlap. because no doubt when you change your fov you directly affect the x and y. and also because the x and y ratio is fixed, at least as far as i know. so i figure those should be coupled as one variable. so youd get a frame variable xy and a zoom variable dxdy. then rotation angle would just be completely separate along with the z and the dof dz. and i guess the rotation would be broken down into vertical and horizontal to get a full spherical grid going.
so the more i think about it the more and more variables i can throw in. like the trouble of having shutter speed only affect the time domain. because if you move your camera at all during an exposure you'll cover more unknown in the spacial domain. or the weight of a flash's affect on a photo with a long exposure giving that flash's time period alot more strength.
yeah im definately confusing myself more and more now as well. so yeah i like it

wow, those wine shots are nice! and whoever was pouring definately has got skill. i also started taking some flower photos, which is a new thing for me. i can definately appreciate those above now more, i especially like that dandy lion one!
I took a trip to chicago, so these are mostly from there, and I was using my new 28mm guy. I honestly had a tough time doin manny focus so alot of my pics came out fuzzy, but i tried to make do with what i got. |

rpar - i like the abstract forrest 2, the flowers to the right look drawn and real funky in red and pink. i feel like they should be on an album cover or something
went on another bike ride today, and turned up with these
and a self portrait |
