I recently got a K5ii through the Marketplace and I am really enjoying shooting with this camera. Trying to learn all I can with this camera before I try to move to a K3 or anything else.

Hi everyone. I've searched for this answer and I haven't found it. Is the Quantaray 9550u flash, paired with the Promaster 5050dxr module true p-ttl or not? I just acquired this setup for my K-x and I don't get, or haven't noticed, the pre-flash that's supposed to happen if the flash is p-ttl. If I pair the module with the 6500u flash I do get the pre-flash. So can someone help me out with the right answers? Thanks.

Thanks Eddie. I saw that one review too and was hoping someone had a little more information. I'm looking for something with a little more reach than the kit lens but not too big, as I already have a 70-300 lens. I thought it would be adecent walk-around lens.

Hi all. I'm a relative newbie here and I thank you all for the information you have provided as I learn my K-x camera. I am looking at a lens on ebay that I can't find much information on. It is a Sigma 28-105 F4-5.6 UC-II. Does anyone have any experience with this lens and care to share any experience with it?

Glad I saw your post Gerry - I was all set to mutilate the module to use on the 7500A :) I do like the swivel head on that one though. Thanks again for all the info.

Thanks Gerry. Then I will do exactly what you say and keep the 7500 for occassions that I need more power since I can bounce and swivel that head. In any case the 5050 doesn't seem to fit on the 7500 head but fits the 6550 perfectly. Now to practice.

Update:
Well I was able to purchase the Promaster 5050DXR module for my K-x. Now I have the 6550 and a 7500 flash heads along with the module. Is there an advantage to either flash over the other with this module? This module does not have a switch for manual or TTL.

Thanks again Russell and Gerry for your valuable information and help. Hopefully I'll have time to fool around with this before we go on vacation next week.
I will double-check when I get homw, but I'm pretty sure the lightning bolt was lit on the flash and in the viewfinder and the switch is all the way to the right. Is there a "target" shutter speed that I should set in Tv mode?

It seems that when I move the slider on the flash unit, the info in the viewfinder does not change. How do I know that the apeture is actually being changed? The ISO is manually set at 100 in the camera. Should I be using auto ISO? I wish this thing came with better instructions. :)

The flash is set at Auto. I think my confusion comes from the fact I thought the camera would be in control of the flash output. Thanks for clearing that up. i was getting practice pictures that were way over exposed.

Good information from all. Truthfully I hadn't considered the voltage issue but since no one mentioned it prior to Arjay I didn't think about it.
Russell I tried your method last night and it didn't seem to work, unless I'm doing something wrong. Setting the camera in Tv mode and selecting the shutter speed to any value should let me change the ISO number and thus affect the f-stop, right? If I am in P mode, the camera sets the shutter at 1/30 and I can affect the aperture when changing the ISO. Is this correct with the flash set on ttl? Hope I explained that right. So much to learn. I still think I am going to take this flash back and get the 7500A.

Thanks again Russell. You are a great resource. I may just look around for a new one, since the 7500A has both tilt and swivel and the other one doesn't. Hopefully Ritz will take the 6550 back even tho it was on clearance.

Hi everyone. I'm relatively new here and I am learning so much from all of you. Really loving my blue K-x. I went into Ritz camera yesterday and found what I hope are useful items for my new hobby. I picked up a Quantaray QB-6550U digital flash and the QDA-PAF dedicated flash module. I've read other threads that mention the 6550 but I can't find any info on the module. Both items only cost $30 so it's no big deal but I wanted to know if the QDA-PAF is equivalent to the Promaster 5050DXR? Is this flash usable with the K-x?

I got the navy K-x a couple of weeks ago and love the look of it. In fact, I use a picture of it as my desktop wallpaper. Now I just have to learn how to take pictures with it.
