Congraduations to Kerrowdown for winning this week's challenge; the next one is yours!
Edit: Kerrowdown cannot run next week's challenge, so since wissink has already offered a funny bird shot, let's go with that.

Here we go...
Edit: Comparison of MTF.
Pentax:

Finally, it's interesting to note that it is an SDM lens, not a DC lens, and that the press release describes it as a "new-generation SDM".

The contest will run until the 27th of September, and I shall declare the winner then. Submissions can be in any written form (no video or audio files) — caption, limerick, motivational, poem or prose — whatever inspires you to describe the photo or catch attention. Submit by replying to the thread.
Contestants may submit more than one entry but it must be in a separate post.
Important: Even if you do not submit an entry, please “like” any posts you feel deserve it as this is how the winner is chosen! And if you DO submit an entry, please also find a comment that you like from amongst your competitors' efforts and "like" that one as well.
The "thread starter" is the moderator and must post an original photo at the start of the thread.
In case of a tie the moderator will choose one to break the tie. The winner of that contest will be notified ASAP after marking by the current Thread Starter/Contest Host and will become responsible for posting the next original work to be captioned.
Enter often, vote more often. and most important: Have fun !

The reviews for the Samyang have been nothing short of exceptional, finding it every bit as good or better than the Canon 135L. Plus the Samyang is shockingly free of CA, which certainly cannot be said for the A135/1.8. Frankly, I'd go for the Samyang, and that is even if they were much closer in price; at the moment it is one of the very best (optically) lenses available for Pentax.

Well, it's a three-way tie for first, so I shall cast the tie-breaking vote to rambling robin.

Nor is it working for me in the UK. Traceroute shows it stopping at an NTT IP address in the USA, so it makes sense that it would only be out for part of the world.

The size difference between mirrorless 4/3 and FF may not seem that big until you see them side by side (this is the picture I have posted for this week's caption contest, btw).... |

Well, it's back to me for this week's contest. Heie set the bar pretty high last week, so I'm pulling out all the f-stops for this one....

They are both 5/4 (Unar Elmar hybrid) designs, but there are definite differences in the shapes of the elements that would unquestionably affect their characteristics.

That Bokeh is the result of over-corrected spherical aberration. Both the Ltd and XS versions have the same optical formula and should therefore be the same in this regard. From my experience with lenses that have some over-corrected spherical aberration (e.g., M35/2), it only occurs (or at least is noticeable) in a certain range of circumstances--for instance wide open when focusing to within 2ft and then with a background that is significantly behind the plane of focus. Based on the samples of the DA40 you link to, the range of circumstances seems pretty similar. Depending on your shooting habits, it may or may not be prevalent, but generally is not catastrophic even when it occurs as only very tight crops/very large prints will make it visible.

A very intersting lens idea. I wonder how the DA15 or another UWA would perform with extension tubes in comparison to this lens.
