Yes, WR is nice to have. Water Parks! Yeah! Taking the kids to the water park! That's how I'll justify keeping this lens to my wife! :)

Well the title of the thread says it all.

Now that I have gotten the 2 FA primes that will give me supernatural photographic powers ;), do I really need to keep my 16-50 2.8? The only thing it gives me is wide angle other than that I can do everything with my 2 primes.

What do ya'll think?

Question is, should I now just sell the 16-50? I don't really shoot much wide angle stuff so whats the point? I am hoping for a Full Frame Body in the future anyway. What do yall think?

I picked up a 31mm 1.8 for $ 895 shipped. I figure that's a fair price and if I don't like it i can always sell. Don't think these lose much value.

Thanks for your suggestions. I looked at the DA 35 2.8 but I figured that since I already have a 16-50 2.8, getting the 35 2.8 would be kind of pointless wouldn't it? I have just about the same focal length and exactly the same speed on my zoom.
Correct me if I am wrong please.
Thanks.

Hello folks I currently have the following:

1. K5 II
2. 77mm 1.8 limited
3. 16-50 2.8

I find myself wanting a fast prime to mainly use around the house where 77 especially on APS-C is a bit too much.

I am considering the 31mm 1.8 and the 43mm 1.9

The 43 is considerably cheaper but will it work for my purpose? Should I just bite the bullet and get the 31 or is the 43 good enough?

What do you guys think?

I considered the 55-300 however 5.6 is a bit slow for me.

Im tempted to just hold of and buy a 50-135 2.8

Hello folks, I currently own a K5 II and a 16-50 2.8. I am looking something with a little bid of range to complement this lens. Could be zoom or prime does not matter. I do not want to log around a huge lens though so the big 2.8's are out of the question. I also do not want to spend a grand on an FA lens especially considering I just bought a 77mm which is going back due to it being defective. Looking for something affordable, manageable in size, decently fast and with good auto focus to take pictures of kids running around in the back and swimming etc...

Any suggestions?

Thanks for all the suggestions folks but nothing has worked. I think there is an internal problem with this lens. I bought it "LIKE NEW" from Korea via ebay. I've allready filed a claim.

Hopefully he will give me a refund. If not I'll get the money through the bank.

I noticed that even when i switch the camera body to AF it still says MF when I look in the viewfinder but the motor does seem to be engaged meaning that if i try to turn the lens to focus manually it is hard to do. When I switch camera to MF it is nice and smooth.

Lens looks like it is brand new. There is no dust or anything like that.

This is beyond weird.

Hello folks,

I just got a 77mm 1.8 lens and auto focus does not work on my k5 II body. I am a Pentax newb, so I am sorry if this is a dumb question but am I doing something wrong?

Is there a trick to enable this?

I absolutely love it. This is just a great all around shot. Subject is in focus. The background colors compliment the photo. Nicely done!

This is a self portrait that I took of myself in the basement of my house. What is so amazing at least to me is that the pic was taken late at night (8:15 PM) and all the lights were completely off. The only light available was the light of the computer screen from which the cam was facing away. Man, even in the hands of a complete newb like me this lens just rocks.

At this point the 31mm is glued to my Pentax. Only comes off once in a while for the 77 mm and 1 time today to play with the fisheye.

I love the 31mm!!!
