I've had a glass of brandy so bear with me.
Sometimes less is more.
Especially when it concerns Chinese fakes.
Quick quiz; When does a 400mah battery outperform a 2300mah battery?

That's a great idea. And thanks for the links.
I had a school bus windshield for that purpose but eventually something bumped it.
I'll have to find another.
My black board is a treadmill deck. The black coating is similar to Teflon.
My white board is just that...An old dry erase board. The paper is dollar store card I use to experiment with and bounce/fill.
My "studio" is my Winnebago!:D

I think I get it. I made a mountain out of a mole hill and this will be no problem.
I'll show a couple like this....Maybe some with deeper DOF.
I'll see what they want.

So I guess I'm going with this;
Single speedlight on the hotshoe, bare head at close range.
Fast sync 1/5000 shutter speed.
Sometimes you just K.I.S.S.!

That sounds like a stripped shutter box to me.
Pretty cool camera. Did it come with any auto focus lenses?
As far as fixing it yourself; throw a couple batteries in it and see what happens.
I'm not sure you want to actually get inside a camera like this. They're fiendishly complicated!
Here's a video by Mike Trost showing a best case scenario that you could hopefully correct. Youtu.be |

I'll mess around a little more tomorrow to see what angle bounces around in the glass best.
I'm wondering now, what a single speedlight and high speed synch would look like.
Also want to try it out without white paper.

I played around with light today.
Two small speedlights and camera pop up.
Edit: sorry about the dust.
My S2 Pro is filthy!

I think I'm going to practice this at home.:o I'm feeling a little bit apprehensive as I normally strobe everything.
The lens I use for small objects is my AF-S 18-70 3.5-4.5G ED which needs a lot of light.
I shot a collection of vinegar cruets about 10 years ago but It was a different look that I was after.
Your images are inspiring!
Really great work! ;)

Back when I first heard about this, I was taking phone pics with a Palm Pilot.
Maybe 600x800 if it was even that much.
My 7 year old Droid X has an 8megapixel camera in it.
I mean I can literally go on eBay right now and pick up a 16mp digital back for 645 for a couple hundred bucks.
If there was any money in 35mm digital film, it wouldn't be vaporware anymore and it'd be 30 megapixels.
Back to reality though I wish everyone would forget it and let it die.
I'd hate to see 35mm film go extinct for convenience/laziness/short sightedness.
Impossible Project 35mm? I'd be buthurt.

I have to photograph some antique Victorian glass curtain tiebacks.
Some of them are opalescent and I'd like to show that remarkable dimensional quality.
Anyone ever shot anything like this?
I've shot low key for steel/chrome etc. but product photography is normally high key.
They're not installed.

I'll sell one of my S2 Pro bodies for a hundred bucks.
Simply take Fuji guts and firmware out of hacked Nikon N80 and reverse engineer.
Fuji didn't have to pick Nikon. They could have stuffed it into anything.

Do you have running water?
There aint much to it. Photojournalists through the 70's processed negatives in hotel bathrooms.
They still sell "press kits". Youtu.be |

I developed my first Tri-X Pan 400 when I was 11 years old.
I developed my first paper negative out of a cardboard pinhole camera when I was 8.
I stopped taking film in to be developed when a roll of 120 was destroyed about 7-8 years ago.
I don't print, although I have the equipment. I only scan the good ones.
Developing negatives takes very little investment especially since you can find used stuff for practically nothing.
I'm not being a dick trying to push you around.
Developing film is fun!! You'll really enjoy it. :)

I never thought I'd weigh in on a megapixel discussion but I'd have to agree with Adam.
There's more to it then resolution, obviously, but the new sensors just blow away the older ones.

You have it right. It's the latch in the prism housing.
I suppose the eyepiece ocular could use a cleaning.
Maybe ill just take it apart.
The only thing I'm worried about is the meter.
It's fragile looking and I made that mistake once on an OM-1

I just noticed the prism latch on the left side isn't catching.
The regular view finder clicks on tight no problem.
I have no idea how long I've been walking around with the camera like this. Maybe years!
Is there a way to adjust the latches?
I know they get sloppy over time, allowing light to leak into the prism messing up the meter reading.
Mine seems to have gotten bent so that it's too tight on one side, preventing it from clicking in.
Thanks

I'm done flying too. I guess if I ever am shanghai'd into going on an overseas vacation, I'll have to but I'd rather drive my 30 year old Winnebago 4 days straight then endure One day of hell dealing with traffic....airport...plane...airport....traffic....
I'm down for a rocket rail gun monorail electromagnetic bullet train though!

I got a package today, containing the prism mentioned in post #4 and installed it forthwith!

Years ago, I removed the AA filter from my F-700 because I wanted to see what effect it would have on a non Bayer sensor.
The AA filter is nothing more then a blur filter made from a piece of laser cut tempered glass. They are very hard.
The focal length of the AA lens is whatever the thickness of the filter happens to be...like a fraction of a mm so putting one on the lens wouldn't do the same thing.
You don't want more AA blurring anyway.

That's exactly where I saw the paint bubbling ever so slightly. After researching the phenomenon further, I have concluded that this is a common failing of the Hong Kong plastic top K1000. Also, I have read that there may be two different prism designs that do not interchange. I had considered picking up an ebay junker but thought better of it when I realized, this is a fine parts camera for my (24 year old one owner) K1000.
Now that I think about it again, I'd love to restore this one as I think it has far fewer releases then mine. A good prism and some new foam...this would be a fine K1000.
Thanks very much for the offer. If you do find one knocking around, I'll give it a home. :)
