One of the interesting things about photography, is that the photographer is as unique as the image they are capturing.
Some might say sunsets are mundane but at the same time others might say that an orange colored splotch on a gray board might be mundane. While there may be a good number of sunsets presented, tell me...are any two of them exactly the same?
Once you start tossing similiar shots into a category, you're losing an objective eye. To me, each shot, wether it was a sunset or an abstract form required a closer view...to try and see what that photographer was seeing. Perhaps I could learn from it, but at the very least, I appreciate thier effort.
But in the end, it all comes down to what appeals to the individual.
As for me, photo number 30 is absolutely amazing and I would hope to be able to capture a shot like that someday!

Everyone has posted some excellent shots!
I figured I might add a few too :)
The weather up here in Northern California has been real cold and wet until a few days ago...now it's almost like spring. Would be nice for it to stay like this, but I know we need the rain!

I suggest the theme: The Natural World
That would pretty much cover everyone's geographical locations & seasons, it would cover land, sea & air as well as moon shots, cloudscapes, flowers, animals and insects (macro or otherwise)...
That way there's a specific theme that has a good deal of flexibility :)

Here goes for my first photo post!
The weather hasn't been all that great lately, but I was able to get a few shots in.
The first real nice day we had, I went out (one my lunch hour) and found a young Damselfly sunning in the field behind the shop.
The Sunset was taken in the evening on my way up to the store, about 7:30 p.m.
I used my 18-55 lens for both shots. |

Thanks einstrigger and eaglem!
The weather has been pretty nasty the past week or so, lots of rain.
The weather people said it's *supposed* to clear up on Saturday...but I'll believe it when I see it!

Thought I'd jump in and say Hi from Northern California!
After being out of photography for about 20 years, I decided to get back into it about 3 years ago and bought myself a K100D (with an 18-55 & 100 Macro lens). Some of the best money I've spent in a long time!
Here I am, 3 years and about 12,000 photos (they sure add up, don't they?) later, I'm finally joining up!
Better late than never, huh?
